MLB Pipeline released their top 30 J2 prospects for the upcoming period. The Red Sox are not linked to any of the top 30, however there are a few players who aren't linked to teams. m.mlb.com/prospects/2019?list=intSomething else to consider about this upcoming period is that both Yeinier Cano and Yolbert Sanchez have yet to sign in the 2018-2019 period although they are eligible to do so. They ranked #2 and #5 respectively in last year's MLB international rankings, and the fact they haven't signed to date has me thinking they may have agreements in place for the upcoming period although I haven't heard any recent rumors regarding their status.

Does this mean we're out on him or is there still a chance?

Does this mean we're out on him or is there still a chance? MLB Pipeline (Jesse Sanchez) has him linked to the Yankees. Red Sox are probably out on him.

Take this (from Eric Longenhagen's Fangraphs chat today) with a grain of salt but....

The 18-19 signing period closed on Saturday - RHP Yeinier Cano (ranked #2 by MLB Pipeline for the 18-19 period) and SS Yolbert Sanchez (ranked #5) did not sign.
We should get more info on Red Sox targets in the coming days.

Jasson Dominguez's swing look like the real deal. Yankees might have a new top 150 prospect in him by the time they sign him. That kind of stinks. Fg guys put him top-5, maybe top-3 if he’d been in this draft. I wouldn’t take him over Rutschman, but maybe over Witt and definitely over Vaughn. Sounds like they had him well within their top-100. Stinks, yeah, but if the Sox go volume again my guess is they find someone who, in 3 years, is pretty close to that level. Those kids are so young, lots of things change pretty quickly.

Any guesses on who could be trade bait if the Sox end up trading for extra cap space? Guys like Joan Martinez, Pedro Castellanos, or maybe even a Ryan Fitzgerald kind of stand out to me.

CJ Chatham is my candidate with the Bogey's extension, the return of Marco and Lin's injury not being as bad as they thought.

Sounds about right, but depends on how much money in return. The only player of much consequence they've dealt for IFA money was Longhi, but that was to sign Daniel Flores basically (RIP). Otherwise it's been Lorenzo Cedrola (who has turned back into a pumpkin in a big way), Stanley "the other" Espinal, and Imeldo Diaz. I don't think Castellanos has much value right now, unless some scout thinks they can fix his in-game swing to tap into his power. Fitzgerald fits the mold best, probably.

Maybe Diaz or De Jesus from the Salem rotation? Some pitchability guys that might be good back of the rotation guys, especially with a non contender.

That seems kinda plausible, doesn't it? Size and strength are still there, solid contact numbers, and he's a decent athlete. He just hasn't been able to put it together at all. He probably never does, but some scout out there probably thinks he's worth taking a chance on. Maybe he fits more as a third piece some team acquires as part of a bigger trade rather than straight up for International money, though.

I thought he might be in line for a bigger bonus if waiting until July.

Just over a week out, any rumors/links around Boston's targets? I’ve been reading we’re not linked to any top 30 prospects while the Yankees are linked to 3 in the top 15. How is this? Very frustrating

Very frustrating Just a reminder that none of Bryan Gonzalez, Brainer Bonaci, Alex Zapete, Elio Prado, Albert Feliz, Noelberth Romero, or any of those guys having success in the DSL were ranked in any lists. Its just such an unpredictable market that you can't get too wrapped up in the rankings. We've done well in this market since coming out of the penalties (and did well before), and there's no reason to think we won't put together another solid class.

Just over a week out, any rumors/links around Boston's targets? You've got to believe in Eddie Romero my brother! Also, the Red Sox hired Chris Becerra one of the best in international scouting. I'm pretty sure they have a good plan in place.

Has he told you he hopes to sign with the Sox or something?

Geez, my six year old takes things as literally as you just did. Like other have said, Eddie Romero is assistant GM on the Red Sox and it's highly doubtful he's related to anybody on this site. His father, Eddie Romero Sr, was a utility infielder for the Brewers and then was acquired for Mark Clear and was on the 1986 Red Sox team.

I don't know.), so why wouldn't bird25 believe that Eddie Romero was his brother? lol. You can't make this stuff up.

Romero and Bacerra have my blind trust at this point
As far as I’m concerned every 16-17 yr old international free agent is a scratch ticket. You don’t want to waste money on a bunch of $1 tickets because the payout is kinda meh but buying a bunch of $5 and $10 tickets (Between 50-500k) makes a lot of sense. If you buy $20 ones you’re spending a lot to have less cracks at jackpot
