Those are two 80-grade names. Outstanding.

I'm happy to see us linked to several VZ players and hope that we continue to be aggressive in the VZ market which figures to be less competitive than the DR market. Consider that from last year's class, many of our top DSL performers are from Venezuela including Brainer Bonaci, Naysbel Marcano, Alex Zapete, Elio Prado, Noelberth Romero, Andres Ortuno, Wilkelman Gonzalez, and Moises Castellanos. None of those guys received a bonus reaching $400k which was a figure matched or exceeded by 4 guys from the DR and 1 from Panama (Vaughan).
Its also another reason why we shouldn't get upset when we're not linked to many or any "Top 30" guys since scouting opportunities are not equal across countries. There is clearly all kinds of talent in VZ to be found that won't register on any 'best of' lists.

Badler is also tying the Sox to VZ catcher Renny Flores ( video) and DR RHP Nathanael Cruz.

Juan Chacon was at Fenway a few days ago. Seems to be more in the Bryan Gonzalez mold of OF on first impression.

The Red Sox are spending their international pool money on 10 prospects primarily from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, according to sources. The headliner for this year’s class for Boston is right-handed-hitting outfielder Juan Chacon of Venezuela. Chacon, who is expected to sign for just under $1 million, is a physical center fielder with lots of projection and tons of upside. He’s raw, but he has a chance to be a five-tool player. Additionally, the Red Sox are expected to sign shortstops Allan Castro and Kelvin Diaz of the Dominican Republic. www.mlb.com/news/red-sox-to-sign-juan-chacon-international-prospects?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage

Remarkably, the team with the most reported signings according to the BA tracker is the.....Baltimore Orioles.

It's so unfair how the Yankees signed Dominguez and still are able to sign Diaz and that 3B and probably will still sign more guys. Teams should not trade them IFA money so they get hit with a penalty. Their payroll is obnoxious and now they can sign IFA at will. Thankfully they cant draft well.

Not even close, not all Hispanic people look alike No, they don't at all, but this kid does has some facial resemblance to A-Rod and I'm sure that's what he meant. Now if he can in any way resemble A-Rod's hitting prowess the Sox will be in business with this kid! No pressure, kid

I know they say at Baseball America that the rankings are kind of meaningless but does that apply to this Dominguez kid they just signed? Sounds like he's the most exciting international prospect signed this period. Hate that the Yankees got him.

Red Sox don’t get any top 30 guys while an already much more talented Yankees team with a better farm system gets the number 1 prospect? How the heck does that happen

Because there is not really such a thing as "top 30 International prospects":
