Have there been any updates on Kevin Steen or Aaron Perry?

Aaron Perry had Tommy John last year. He’ll be out most, if not all, of this season.
EDIT ADD: Soxprospects twitter account said that Perry was throwing a bullpen today. Surprising considering the fact that he underwent Tommy John in May 2018 according to his player page.

So we put a ton of content on Twitter from our trip at twitter.com/soxprospects and twitter.com/iancundall . I highly suggest that folks here check those out and bring stuff over into the Forum to discuss! Lots of video this year too.

Juan Florentino is a little bit of a surprise Chad Hardy on the list a disappointment to me. He gave my grandson a bat a couple years back and was really nice. One of those toolsy/power type of guys, like trent Kemp and Kyri Washington always pull for when go to Ft Myers for GCL games.

Yeah, I talked with him a year or so ago. Seemed like a really nice kid.

The low A teams played on the back fields today. Decker played in the high A game. Not sure if that offers any clues on which team he may start on. The low A team included Diaz, Flores, Jiminez, Northcut, and Cottam. Diaz played first base and, I thought looked pretty god in the field. Nobody had a particularly good day at the plate.

Sounds like everyone was playing up. Save for Cottam, everyone you mention was a level lower last week than where you have them.

Bello was an interesting pop-up guy last year after signing for only 28k. Seems like he was a little advanced for the DSL as a 19 year old, so he still has a lot to prove coming state side, but it's good to hear Mike/Chris got a good impression at minor league camp. He's definitely one to watch going forward.

That was Mike. I was across town at the Twins that afternoon. But yes, they liked him.
An interesting pop up guy for this year that Ian liked was converted catcher Osvaldo De La Rosa. I don't think he tweeted anything but he talked about him for Patreon and will write him up.

The AAA game was played inside the stadium this afternoon with no access for the public. So I watche the first few innings of the Aa game. The batting order for the Sox was Taveraz, Netzler, Chatham, Dalbec, Tobias, Matheny, Nunez, Tendler, Curcio, andLurena. I know that is 10, but it is spring training. Chatham hit a double over the centerfielder’s head. Tavernas also had a double. Dalbec was playing first base.

The starter for the Red Sox didn’t was the only player without his name on his jersey but I am pretty sure it was Hernández, a big left handed who was throwing his fastball between 93 and 95. And his ball seemed to have a lot of movement, so much so that the catcher had a few get by him. Also had control issues with 3 walks and a hit batter in 2 and 1/3 innings. The Rays didn’t hit the ball out of the infield against him but were still able to score because of his control issues. He was replaced by Schellenger who also threw some pitches at 95. He looks a little slow to the plate to me and the Rays stold a base against him. Also had control issues.

Greenville Drive released RHP Nick Duron. Salem Red Sox released RHP Kevin McAvoy. Duron thought might have been useful as LT relief option for the system, if he wanted to stick it out. Remember he looked pretty well when laid eyes on him few years back. McAvoy always (to me) was cannon fodder and another example of what you get when 4 pitch guys with no heater fail... Nothing useful.

GCL Red Sox released CF Juan Hernandez. Mars is somewhat of a surprise to me. Only a year removed from hitting .304 in AA. Thought he might have a fourth outfielder future in the big leagues.

Hopefully it is a better sign of our overall system depth getting better when we can let go of low ceiling guys.

Mars had made some significant changes to his swing, which was just not great, this spring. Looks like they weren't good enough.
