Casas' first AB is an 11-pitch war with Logan Gilbert, K'd after 8 fouls, one out near the left field foul pole.
Scherff touched 97 in the 1st and 2nd, they mentioned 96 in the 3rd.
Edit: 97 multiple times in the 4th inning.

Going to assume that's it for Hart tonight with 96 pitches. 6 innings with 4 runs allowed on 9 hits, but he struck out 11. Fastball was only in the upper 80's but his changeup and curve got a lot of swing and miss.

Fastball was only in the upper 80's but his changeup and curve got a lot of swing and miss. So 11 strikeouts, zero walks, seven singles, and two doubles in six innings is a line I'd more expect to see in front of a much worse defense than Portland has.

Here is to hoping all those power pitchers with upside they took in 2017 take off this year.

My favorite prospect, Pedroia played 9 innings. I think they might have something in this kid, if he can stay on the field.

My favorite prospect, Pedroia played 9 innings. I think they might have something in this kid, if he can stay on the field. But he is really small to have much upside. I know he was a pretty scrappy college player, but lets not get carried away that he is gonna be some kind of all-star, RoY, or MVP. You should just be happy if he sticks at the major league level and the glove plays well enough that he can eek out a gold glove one year.

I remember Pedroia was one of my first interviews at McCoy. He was as ornery and irritable then too. Lester too actually (was working his way back from the leukemia treatment and clearly thought they were taking too long to call him back up).

Huge news. Getting his mechanics sorted out last year looks like it might put him on a fast track. Keith Law certainly likes him.
