How many of those 400 foot outs did the O's have? Are you tracking them as well? A lot less. And they've had a ton of 85 mph ground ball singles. Cool, maybe the Sox should try having a bunch of 85 mph ground ball singles. If it's working for the O's, then why not?

if this is a double play, how stupid. Devers momentum on the slide took him slightly beyond the bag.

Hey Dave, the run would have counted anyway.

Devers looks so much more disciplined at the plate this year But he sucked in his first plate appearance. I guess the fact he was hitting about .238 and has an OPS of less than .630 shouldn't be considered. But you can make all of the ridiculous comments you want. Speaking about trolls.

But you can make all of the ridiculous comments you want. Speaking about trolls. he has a 12% walk rate and 16% K rate. those would be huge leaps in plate discipline for him if they stick anywhere close to those numbers; this is encouraging because we know the power will show up which is what has kept his OPS down so far.

Straly is the same guy who couldn’t make the Miami Marlins But let’s defend how good he is with his 91 mph fastball and rest of his slop arsenal Nobody is saying Straily is a star, but the Marlins dumped him because they didn't want to pay him. They don't want to pay anybody. They also have five pitchers in their rotation who are younger than Straily, and if not necessarily better, at least more interesting. They also moved Chen and his relatively huge contract to the bullpen to open up playing time for these pitchers. I've crushed the Marlins for being cheap as much as anyone, but I'll actually give them credit for making the right call on this.

I'd like to introduce a few folks in this thread to an advanced statistical tool known as a "calendar".

Yet you love to attack posters and call them trolls. I have never suggested that anyone should be fired or traded. You can continue to attack anyone who disagrees with you because you are protected by anonymity and miles.

An average pitcher had two bad starts followed by a good one. I just checked baseball history and this is apparently a first. Baseball is amazing, we see something new every day. That's why I love this game. Totally unpredictable stuff.

I argue with people who are always negative after a stupid short period of time, like one at bat. The only person I've called a troll is pedrofan because he gloats when he's right about the Red Sox doing badly, which IS the definition of trolling. Why else rub our faces in it that the Red Sox are doing badly?

Use stats when it only suits u but when someone uses actual facts to disprove ur argument call them names. Thats ur thing Wait a minute, you were complaining in the 2nd inning when the Sox weren't hitting making Straily sound like a guy who shouldn't even be in AA ball and I called you out on 1) complaining in the 2nd inning and 2) the fact that Straily is not an awful pitcher, but average and serviceable. Look at his career, more than 2 damn starts, and that becomes pretty obvious. That doesn't give the Red Sox a license to suck, but they have been. Straily has pitched well and the Sox have hit poorly, both happening simultaneously rather than it being one way or the other. When the team's going bad that's bound to happen. It's not surprising. You are correct about the 338 foot poke. I thought it was a cheapie because it was hardly a majestic blast, which was the point I was trying to make to JimEd, because every time the Red Sox lose it's because of bad umpiring or unlucky BABIP - never because, gulp, they didn't play too well - as if those types of things don't happen to other teams, or as if the Sox have never been beneficiaries of those types of things.

I posted it back to back to show why the Sox are stuggling so far this year on 2 homeruns in 3 at bats. You have called others like WCP3 a troll too, but don't let that stop you.
