Mookie Betts is another reason why the Sox stink. Talk about a major regression from one year until the next. Those are your two best players and their performances just aren't good enough to this point. 118 wRC+ into today, after 106 in 2017 and 185 last year. I think we were all just spoiled by last season’s numbers, but he is heating up as of late. Unfortunately the Sox need the great Mookie Betts the way this offense is sputtering this year.

When’s Sale’s phantom IL stint coming?

defense is a disaster too. Devers error and then a play that Jackie should normally catch leads to more runs. Of course, that ball was crushed off Sale too. everything bad

Just like that, the Sox are looking like they might get swept out of Tampa Bay.

Sale needs to go to the DL. This is embarrassing...he is broken.

This shit is unwatchable.
The pawsox would beat the crap out of the Sox.

Come on JBJ... would have been a difficult catch but you make those and the only reason you are in the lineip... not for your bat

Another Rafael Devers error at third base. some are tough errors but this one was not. It’s a play that absolutely needs to be made at this level Yeap, he doesn't look the part of a third baseman. The defensive metrics says he is not a third baseman. I'm interested to see if the Sox follow through this and move him to first base next year.

SSS defensive metrics are a bit LOL, but so far he has a -5 DRS and -16 UZR/150. Probably have to take that with a grain of salt, but it appears to be matching the eye test.

Not making routine plays(Taylor-made DP ball that Devers boots) and a play that JBJ normally makes look routine.
Still, Sale, is it just me or he's not right, helath-wise?

What’s the deal with Pearce? He’s is the exact opposite of what he looked like in the batters box last year. We just can’t afford to have him and JBJ in the lineup at the same time. Batting below .150

He came into the day hitting .267/.370/.485. He was hitting over .350 to this point last year. He's been good recently, but he has only bounced back for the most part in the past week. Yeah well regardless of how much swing change kool-aid people drank last year, he's not a .350 hitter. What’s the deal with Pearce? He’s is the exact opposite of what he looked like in the batters box last year. We just can’t afford to have him and JBJ in the lineup at the same time. Batting below .150 If you want to figure out what's wrong with the Red Sox, look at the players who having given zero or negative-value contributions to the team, of which there are many. Don't blame your best player because he's underperforming his projections by 10% at the end of April.

While I think his plate approach has improved markedly this season, Rafael has yet to show enough bat to play 1B on a contender-level team. Yeah, he is 22, and the bat is going to come around... I don't think he is ever going to be a competent 3B, so hopefully it does.

I wonder if Pedey gets back and can stick.... and be effective.... if the Sox will platoon Devers and Chavis at 3b?

Not good when the Verlander Flonase ads are more entertaining than our offense.

Chavis seems objectively good at turning the double play at second base. strong arm, good footwork so far
