I hope Lin is ok. I don't want Nunez to be the backup short stop. THAT is a harrowing thought.

If Sale can dominate like this with 94-95... what happens if 99 returns?

Just say "no" to Nunez sending Chavis back to Pawtucket

Devers 109.4 on the single, so Chavis did him 0.5 better with 109.9. These guys certainly hit the ball hard when they hit it. Chavis, swing-and-miss aside, has been awesome.

The really big inning just continues to elude us this year. Last year's doubles and slams are this year's walks and GIDPs

Do the Red Sox have the gaul to make Pedroia a utility player?

Just say "no" to Nunez sending Chavis back to Pawtucket It won't be Chavis. Probably Thornburg DFA'd. Then it will probably be Nunez DFA'd when Pedrioa returns.

I've been away for a bit. Checked this before checking the box score. Going to be really angry with you hippies if the box score isn't awesome.

A rare no drama, well played victory. We continue the march to .500...then can break on through and start to creep up on the Rays.
Devers and Chavis...superb. And a vintage Sale at last.

Just what the doctor ordered. A strong vintage pitching performance by Chris Sale. So finally gets his first win while Devers gets his first HR finally. And Chavis hits another long one. Good stuff.
And this is the first game the Red Sox have won with Chris Sale pitching in the game since the 2018 World Series clincher.

Postgame show had Lin to the IL and Nunez recalled from rehab.
A serious roster squeeze is still a while off, though. Josh Smith has yet to pitch, so they'd probably be fine with 12 pitchers and 4 bench guys.
So the bell tolls for Nunez only when Pedroia and Holt are both healthy. That could be a few weeks at least.
Out of 298+ players with 50+ PA, Chavis ranks about 11th in wRC+, at 180. (I'm just inserting his updated numbers into the list at the start of the day.)
