I'm literally laughing at how bad the Mariners defense is right now. I don't know if I have seen a defense this bad in the majors before.

I know off topic, but Blake Snell seem, er, healthy. 11 Ks in 4.2 innings so far. Little League numbers.

Don't forget Nunez, who doesn't want to take a walk...

So Velazquez will go back out for the fourth. His pitch count is pretty low. I doubt it 2nd time through the order, but it's possible. Walden was already warming last inning. Cora could send Velazquez out there until he gives up a baserunner in the 4th inning. at this point, I’d probably look to get him out.

Looks like he's running out of gas though. Hanging some meat over the middle over the middle of the plate this inning.

Good outing for Velazquez, even with the HR. He's been a valuable guy for us over the last couple of seasons.

Looking at the radar, they probably have 45 minutes to an hour to finish the game. 4-7pm there is going to be a lot of rain.

Xander's walk rate in 2018 was 9.5%. Up to 12.4% now. Mookie 13.2% 16.0% Devers 7.8% 10.8% Vazquez 4.8% 7.6% Leon 5.2% 9.4% Even JBJ has gone from 8.6% to 11.3%
And Chavis has started out at 16.9%.
They are walking at a pretty insane pace. They have 9 players with a BB rate over 10% and are 3rd in MLB at 10.9% and rising.

Nothing can stop Devers now with the bat. I know that. I was just thinking strategy in terms of the innings and bullpen. Since I made the post, we have added on more runs. That was a great swing by Chavis! Now that 5 innings are in, those stats in the bottom of the 5th are official.

In spots 1 through 7 in today's lineup, everyone has an OPS over .800. Vazquez is lowest of the 7 with an .815.
And they have Moreland on the bench with a .908.
108 EV for Chavis' hit.

Walden is a joy to watch pitch Pounds the strike zone. Everything spins and moves. Nothing straight.

I wonder if Brasier is getting moved out of high leverage for the time being. He pitched in a really low leverage spot in yesterday's game. It seems like this is going Walden for 2 innings, then Workman, then Barnes.

I don't think you can draw that conclusion yet since there hasn't been many high leverage innings lately and he just needed the work. Giving him some low leverage in the meantime isn't a bad idea just so he can get back to where he was.

It's pouring, once this half inning is over, they might call this thing after a hour.

They need to call this game, someone's gonna get hurt. I cringe watching JDM chase down balls on that grass. It's just asking for a groin pull
