Bello is throwing strikes. 48 strikes in 58 pitches. Maybe he’s attacking the zone too much. Guys are swinging the bat (12 hits in 3 innings) because they know they’re gonna get a pitch to hit.

In the lower minors you always have to view actual results with a healthy sized grain because you don't know what they are working on. It could easily be a specific pitch or else just plain being told to pound the zone as a development tool. Maybe they don't want to upset his rhythm by telling him to waste a pitch here and there.

Alright so what’s the deal with Alan Marrero Marreros have not been kind to the Red Sox. I look at Ryan Presley and his record setting performances last night and think of the RPs we have lost in the past few years. Ryan was allowed to walk in the Rule 5. Ty Buttrey has been outstanding in the Anaheim bullpen. Jalen Beeks has found success in Tampa, though Boston benefitted from that trade. Looks like Josh Taylor might have some value. A PTBNL we received in the Deven Marrero transaction, he was added to the 40 man this offseason. At 6’5”, this hard throwing left hander is having a good year thus far in Pawtucket.

Wins and losses for organizational MiLB teams are not a big deal. At this time, its about 8-10 main kids and that many more slightly under that to watch for to pay particular attention to for a bit until more kids are drafted/signed and the organization is filled out again. Tickets and attendance may be hampered by the poor records, but that's not really important in the grand scheme of things organization wide.. it's developing the real prospects they have into MLB type players and always has been. This...and the fact that injuries and player movement up and down add to the record. It is not a strong farm system to be sure, but there are some standout players in the system. I remember when Theo took over he wanted to make the farm system more competitive than previously and had teams with winning records so they had the confidence going forward in their development. We have traded away several of those players that made the minors successful and it will take some time to get back to that. We also suffered the sanctions of the International players that were lost during Cherington's reign. they probably would be in Portland by now. It’s the veterans, depth players and bullpens that play a more important role in W/L records of affiliates
