They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

It's too bad the Sox didn't face the Blue Jays more in April this year.
Vlad Jr is up now and we all will get a look at the guy who's probably going to give the Sox pitching staff headaches for the next 6 years.
Add- I can't believe Edwin Jackson is still hanging around.

Also, is Shawaryn still lined up for the last game of this series? Velazquez has been bad as a starting pitcher for the Sox. The Sox probably want him to get into his old role as a long reliever in the bullpen asap.

The Red Sox have the worst and second-worst players in all of baseball by fWAR: JBJ and Pearce, both at -1.1.
Eduardo Nunez is 11th-worst at -0.8.
If those three were merely replacement level, the team would figure to be like 27-19.

That's a fortunate top of the 1st inning with an error, bloop hit and the 2nd run on a stolen base.

The Yankees play the Orioles again tonight. They've had to have played that team 10 times already. Stupid. They've been so fortunate with their schedule so far.

Could any of our Pawtucket guys wrestle at bats away from Pearce, Nunez and JBJ?

Price looks really good. Topping out at 94. Chavis with a rookie error at second base.

I would like to know how many times JBJ has hit the ball in the air this year? I see him constantly grounding out to 2nd or first or strikeout and that is just about all. all that work on his new batting stance or using his hands different has not paid off at all. Time to get him out and work with him. hate to taske him out and lose the defense, but he is a black hole in bottom of the order.

That double by Moreland was 112 mph. Crushed it.

Xander has turned it up lately. What a great extension he was by the Sox.

Edwin Jackson is ready for his 29th team (not the Red Sox). Moreland 112 mph, Xander 108 mph, Devers 110 mph, and Chavis slumming it with only 101 mph for the HR.

Hard to believe that Chavis is tied with JD in homers in such a short period of time.

On May 14th (the first game at Colorado), Devers had a OPS that topped out at .870. His OPS is at .808 now. Has dropped 62 points in less than a week.

I think big picture today shows the top 6 in the lineup can can carry the bottom three in the order against average and bad teams. Not saying its a positive, just saying.
