Interesting. Of the top three Sox, one stands apart offensively, one is a plus defender and one has plus plus speed. Nice balance when you think about it.
Also, of the top 40ish across all of baseball, 3 are Sox.

Outstanding look at the system. Love this stuff, thank you very much.

Cool to see Esplin high up on that chart. Not really sure why but I've always been really interested in him, enticing physical profile and is still pretty darn young for this being his third season in the system.

Ockimey interests me because his K rate is dropping, his walk rate is spiking, and he’s sportintg an unsustainably low .239 BABIP
If for whatever reason we don’t retain JD Ockimey could be a great option at DH against righties.

Next thing I would love to see drop is his IFFB rate (13.6%} Combined with his lack of speed, might help explain the .239 babip. He also has a preposterous 41,4 hr/fb %. I’m excited about him, but definitely some interesting stuff going on in his batted ball data.

He walks so much that he doesn't need a very high batting average.

It should cut down on total surprises like Shaw and Chavis though. Chavis wasn't there long enough to up his stock much. This is kind of why I'm much more excited about Dalbec. Cut the k-rates and then get to hit the juiced ball in a month or two. It's also going to be a lot easier to evaluate AAA pitchers who won't get surprised with the major league ball when called up. I'd prefer an unjuiced ball first, but second I would prefer the same ball being used at all levels.

Why does hitting a juiced ball against Triple-A level pitching get you excited to watch Dalbec? I mean, I can see if you're physically going to watch him in Triple-A getting momentarily excited about that, because the bombs he'll hit are going majestic. But at best it won't give any opportunity to evaluate him, and at worst it's going to get him into bad habits of trying to hit everything out of the park again. All these guys hitting more homers at Triple-A aren't actually better hitters. Like Ockimey... I'm honestly worried that having everything he hits in the air fly out of the park is the worst thing for his development. If his HR/FB was at 15% (which is high) he'd have a sub-.400 SLG. He needs to make more contact, not have all of his contact against mediocre pitching carry out of the park.

I was wondering if the Pawtucket home park was helping him with the short right field similar to Yankee stadium but he is homering once every 10 at-bats home and road and his overall numbers are better on the road. I know there is not an open spot for him on the major league roster now but at what point does he force a promotion? A 1200 ops against righties would be nice to add. In a way, we were very fortunate to have all the second base injuries that added Chavis. It reminds me of Eric V pointing out how injuries on the 2013 team helped that team take off (Victorino only being able to bat right handed, bullpen injuries that made Koji the closer, don't remember the third).

Released May 25th, 1969. Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary. Hartford Yard Goats used that clip on the scoreboard when Hart struggled with control his last inning in the Sea Dogs game. Probably most know by now the cab was not supposed to be a part of that scene and ran a red light during the filming.

The PCL is pretty much a real life Breaking Madden experiment at this point.

He needs to make more contact, not have all of his contact against mediocre pitching carry out of the park. Because I think Dalbec will be a super pleasant surprise like Chavis has been precisely because of the juiced balls. Agree with your point about bad habits, but I'm really pleased with his k-rate reduction so far. Dalbec doesn't really have anything to prove other than keeping his k-rate down. Hitters aren't better at AAA and the majors than they are in AA, but they are showing what they can do to a juiced ball. The difference between 40 degree rain in Portland with the non juiced balls and Fenway in August with the juiced balls is pretty severe and way more severe for someone with Dalbec's power. I'll also bet that the juiced ball makes his walk rate skyrocket to a stupid level.

Released May 25th, 1969. Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary. Of what? This one took me awhile to figure out. "I am walking here" is a quote from Midnight Cowboy which was released on that date. Cool thing is that it was improv. It was a real cab.

Salem with the gold unis (Memorial Day), I like them, they look good. This is the first meeting with Winston Salem this year. The WS trophy and some rings will be on display at their stadium tomorrow.
A bit of sloppy play and control issues to start their game but WS didn't score so it's all good.

Pedroia out of the game after 4 innings? Was that the plan for tonight?

lol, first pitch single for Duran vs a lefty. Soft line drive to CF.
And came around to score on a sac fly.

Starting "Scherff to the bullpen" campaign. Too early in his career, he's only 21. It's probably where he'll end up though but it's the probably part. Watching the Sox but Duran is 3/3 with a BB, 2R . . . 4/4 now. He's had 2 previous 4 hit games this year but both were 4/5s. His BA is now .422
