Based on last year, the pick at 43 should be at around 10:45 and the 69th pick will be a little after 11:30.

Tomorrow is Social Security day which means going to the city. It's compounded this year because the kids school year starts Thursday which means I'm going to be locked into Mall Hell for the entire day. Falling on day 1 of the draft is only going to compound that. I'll be gone before the first pick and won't be back until long after it's done.

Here’s hoping this is as successful (to date) as last years where some gems were selected.

The time of the year where you get angry because your team didn't select that guy you thought he'd be the steal of the draft based on some highlights you saw on his YouTube channel.

Currently, 8 of the top 25 prospects are from the 2018 draft. If the Sox can even come close to having that good of a draft (going to be difficult), that will do a lot for the depth of the system.

It's been a light year in terms of hearing about pre-draft interest. Here are some of the players the Sox have shown at least some degree of interest in:
Jase Bowen, OF, Central Catholic HS (OK) James Beard, OF, Loyd Star HS (MS) Quin Cotton, OF, Grand Canyon Jake Herbert, C, George Jenkins HS (FL)

Wow, Quin must cover a lot of ground.

I'm bringing up this quote again from Mike Rikard that I posted in the general draft thread:

FWIW Keith Law said in his chat today that this is the absolute worst class for pitchers he’s seen in his 18 years covering the draft. Doesn’t see a single guy with ace potential.

Interesting to look back on Bannister's comments a few days before the draft last year:
Then no high school pitchers signed and Feltman, Ward, Shugart, Machamer, Fernandez each spent most of their time as closers or swing men.

And solid pitching prospects like Shawaryn, Darwinzon, Houck are being discussed as RP’s. Is there hope for Groome or Mata in this scenario?

Hoping for Strumpf and Schunk today, but wouldn't be surprised if they were gone at 43 and 69, respectively.

Thanks to everyone who gave some insight to this draft. I don't follow high schools or college (used to read keith law), but it was great to have some folks put information out there for me to digest. Good luck to the Sox tonight, hoping for some real talent to follow on this site in the future.

My second favorite part of draft week (other than the fine work that the staff here does to make the information digestible) is looking at how gloriously awkward and painfully unqualified Harold Reynolds is at the table next to the other people that know what they are discussing. Harold Reynolds seems like the type of person that would repeat the last few words of your sentence to make it seem like he knows what you're talking about.

In other words, it's already time to unjuice the baseball and require real major league ball parks with minimum dimensions before it gets even more absurd.

It would be cool to see us draft Quintana again. His strikeouts are a concern, but he’s got a good looking swing and we’ve seen a lot of him.

Only another 3 hours until the Sox pick...everything pretty much chalk so far.
