Red Sox select Ryan Berardino, 1B, Bentley College. Grandson of Dwight Evans and also grandson of Dick Berardino. That's 5 first basemen that they've drafted now.

Perfect game ranks Prielipp #232. Alabama commit.
MLB write up: A high school lefty with a small frame that could lead to durability concerns, Prielipp sits in the 86-89 mph range with his fastball and can reach 91. The southpaw has drawn the attention of scouts primarily because of his dazzling curveball, which has a spin rate that has been measured at 3,100 rpm -- well above the Major League average.

Red Sox select Connor Prielipp, LHP, Tomah High School (WI). Near the old neighborhood, I used to live an hour north of here. Almost in the center of a square between LaCrosse, Eau Claire, Stevens Point, and Wisconsin Dells. Population about 9,000 and nothing else around but farmland and lakes.

And with their last pick, the Red Sox select Garrett Irvin, LHP, Riverside CC.

Garrett is rated the #78 prospect in Southern California according to BA.
78. Garrett Irvin, LHP, Riverside (Calif.) JC Source: JC • Ht: 6-0 • Wt: 180 • B-T: L-L • Commitment/Drafted: Arizona
Irvin won Pacific West Conference pitcher of the year as a freshman at Division II Point Loma Nazarene and bounced back to Riverside (Calif.) JC this season in pursuit of a Division I offer. He got it with a scholarship to Arizona. Irvin sits 87-89 mph from the left side with a swing-and-miss curveball and an advanced feel to pitch. He’s slightly undersized at 6-foot, 180-pounds, but he’s succeeded against every caliber of competition, including at Norco (Calif.) HS when he was the only pitcher to strike out future Brewers first-rounder Brice Turang in Turang’s junior season. Irvin is strongly committed to Arizona and will be expensive to sign.

With many teams thanking the commissioners office when making their last pick, I wanted to thank vermontsox for his dedicated work today and thanks to everyone who linked information about the drafted players as well as the draft previews here.

Grew up pretty poor, picked football because it's a full scholarship instead of half. Always had the idea that if football didn't work out he'd come back to baseball.

So first off, I just wanted to say that every year the people on these forums impress me during draft time. Its seriously amazing that there are so many people that care enough about baseball to put it the ridiculous amount of research. After playing in college, I was offered a scouting job (baseball), but decided to turn it down (I have my reasons). That being said there are so many on here that know far more than I do about all this stuff, and it just baffles me. I love it!
Anyways, this has to be one of the most intriguing draft classes I have seen from the Sox. I would say 2018 is one of my favorites by far (People know my love for Jarren Duran), and this year I am just as excited....but its completely different. I can't put my finger on it, but I am guessing I am mostly impressed with the mix of players they snagged. Mostly what I mean is having to do with their age, and where we took players from (College players vs HS etc). I have a feeling they are going to get a large portion signed like last year, but have an incredible mix of upside vs floor. My bet is that this class produces as many GOOD to GREAT players as the 2018 yet it is a completely different class. Well done sox.
My guess as far as signings go?: I would say we get everyone we drafted in rounds 1-25 (+/- one), any seniors in the lower part, and 2 unexpected HS players from 26-40. The amount of leverage from their higher rounds certainly offers some flexibility in the lower ones to lure away talent yet. All the more impressive when you consider our cap allotment.

Check out the stache on Davis . Can't decide if I love or hate him yet. Saw a good amount of him in college and he mashes. Up until this year he was easy to expand the zone against though I will say

Thanks to vermontsox and everyone for doing all the heavy lifting for me.
My friends think I’m crazy for loving the MLB draft, but it’s fun and I think you see the most genuine reactions from kids when they’re drafted. A long road awaits everyone who is drafted, but it’s nice to see them get confirmation that all their hard work has put them on the right path. Excited to see what this crop can do.
