They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Interestingly, this will only be the second start of Beeks' career. He had the not-very-good start against the Tigers in his MLB debut. He has worked out of the bullpen, almost always as the innings guy after an opener, ever since the Eovaldi trade.

This upcoming stretch is pretty much the last chance as far as I’m concerned. If they don’t gain ground they’re cooked come the end of August (barring some improbable collapses)

So... maybe a dumb question, but is there a rule about hiring family members? I mean: what if the Sox could, say, sign Mookie to a very team-friendly deal but then hire is wife in the FO for crazy money? His household gets the same income, but the Sox don’t have it count against the ceiling. Explicitly against the rules?

That’s pretty much what got them nabbed and punished on the international market, no? I don’t think it’s wise for this organization to try and circumvent the ceiling again. I appreciate the effort the first time but to do it again would be plain stupid.

It wouldn't happen, nor should the Sox employ a unqualified fiance of Mookie Betts.

Got a bad feeling about this series.... I'm actually feeling like the Sox are going to win this. Which is shocking for me, but Tampa has been really struggling lately. On June 1st all they had to do was be barely better than .500 to finish with 90 wins and now they're struggling with that. On the other hand, baseball is a stretch of runs and eventually you'd think Tampa is going to get hot again. They're playing below their xW-L while the Red Sox are right on the mark. The Red Sox are putting out there 3 best staters for this series. If they don't win this series then the season is going to hinge on Porcello, Cashner, and E-Rod against NY.

Seems like colleges have started hiring recruits’ dads, for example.

Got a bad feeling about this series.... Ok Mr Solo. Guess we are going to have to trust in the force on this one. Let’s hope the force is strong in Rodriguez, Sale and Price.

I expect the team to realize the gravity of the situation and the hole they put themselves in if they lose multiple of these series. So I look for the team to respond by treating this string of games with more of a playoff mindset.

It’s interesting to see Beeks. I’m glad he’s doing well, but I really want to see him give up 17 runs in two innings.

ERod gets to two strikes and he nibbles with hard stuff (including his changeup/cutter). What ever happened to that slider Pedroia showed him?

I'm score board watching on my 1 year anniversary. I'm a terrible person. If you’re lucky, she will become a baseball fan and you get to enjoy her company and the game we love at the same time. I feel extraordinarily fortunate to be in that circumstance. In any case, Happy Anniversary!

Seems like the opposing team prep for our hitters is better than our hitting prep for opposing pitchers
