Eduardo Lopez has some skill on the bases. 11/12 on steals so far this year. He also has some skill to get on base hehe: In July he has 2 walks for every strikeout. Very polished hitter for his league.

CJ Chatham made an excellent play at second base to cut a runner down at home. Fielded a liner on one hop and fired a bullet to the catcher. No hesitation and an excellent throw.
Tate Matheny follows his 3-run home run with a nice leaping catch against the Maine Monster to end the inning.
Robinson Leyer struck out the side in the seventh, working around a wall. All three strikeouts were swinging and the batters were never even close. Good breaking ball.

Gotta figure a promotion coming soon to AAA with those juiced balls

Very polished hitter for his league. I wouldn't pay much attention to K/BB number in the DSL, probably going to be a lot of variance there just because most pitchers don't have good control.

Ooops. Dalbec 0-3 with 2 strikeouts. 1st and 3rd one out when he fanned the second time. He leads the Eastern League in hrs. and walks...64.

I know what you're implying here in regards to my opinions, but Dalbec's sample size in AA is large enough at this point regardless of a 0-5 5k night. Dalbec's funny though. He'll go 3 weeks without a home run, then hit 6 home runs in a 5 game span lol

Reyes/Lenik with a 7 inning shutout. reyes seems like he's had a very solid season looking at his stats and he always eats a lot of innings

Jimenez 3 for 4 tonight. A long long way to go but I'm getting giddy at the thought of him becoming a plus hitter as he rises through the system because all his other tools besides power are very loud. When I saw the lowell spinners live, he was by far the most impressive athlete on the field.

For an 18 year old, Aldo is putting up some impressive ratios.
31.2 IP 31 K 6 BB 1.52 GO/AO

The PawSox put on a hitting clinic with the exception of Ockimey who seems to be exceeding his usual 2nd half swoon.

Two kind of interesting journeyman type minor league relievers are Lenik an Leyer. I know they're both old for AA, but they both have big arms with elite velocity. If something clicks for them, maybe Bannister sees a fix, and they find some command, perhaps they could help in September or next season.

Leyer seems like more of a long shot and so far Lenik hasn't changed his walk ratios.

I would be surprised if Dalbec is with Portland in two weeks. If he's still in the organization through the deadline (and my feeling is that he will) then he's a pretty obvious 8/1 promotion candidate. Shugart, Granberg, and Chatham as well. Maybe Joan Martinez. I could also see Casas and Decker getting tastes at the next level before the end of the season.

I'd add Fitzgerald and Browning to that list.

Some quick notes from tonights game between the PawSox and Durham Bulls:
Teddy Stankiewicz - Sat 90-92. Lots of weak contact. Only one laser given up on the Jason Coats HR Chad De La Guerra - made a nice play in foul territory by the bullpen. Running and twisting to catch the ball Josh Ockimey - really struggled with Sam McWilliams. Struck out badly in the first AB (not even close). 4 K’s and looked really rough Mike Shawaryn - Sat 89-91 on the fastball. Got some swing and misses but struggled with control out of the gate Cole Sturgeon - HBP in 8th inning on left hand but stayed in game. Looked like it really hurt but he hung in there Rusney Castillo - Five hits but nothing too hard. Didn’t lift much in the air and his two doubles were past the third baseman down the line (hard hit but not elevated) Bobby Poyner - Mostly 88-89 fastball topped out at 90 once. 80-81 off speed (changeup?). Gave up a massive foul ball to Brendan McKay before promptly giving up a 425 ft blast to him right after. Trevor Kelley - Sat mostly between 86-88. Struck out IL’s second highest in batting Kean Wong rather convincingly

These July games in Durham are usually so hot that I leave by the 4th inning before I die. You're lucky that the game was played and that it's about 30 degrees cooler than yesterday.
