Looks like Wilson narrowly missed a home run with his double last night. One-hopped the wall.

Great look at Chatham’s batting stance.

Great look at Chatham’s batting stance. Yup, this is what I was referring to by his crouch. I recall him being a bit more upright in the past.

NOTE: By my count, 57 steals the past 3 years. This tweet was deleted but this is what it said and there was a video of Marcus: Jacob Zweiback @thereeljz Don’t forget about guys like redsox Marcus Wilson—outside the top 100 but plenty talented in their own right. @mw12 has barreled two singles today, showing good strength and bat speed. The 2014 2nd rounder is the best athlete on this field: 160 steals the past 3 years

Wilson went 1/3 with HBP, 2K, R, 2RBI, SB Do we know why Duran didn’t end up going? Chatham has hit fairly well, too, so far. I’m still waiting on him showing some pop and OBP skills, but he looks like he may be a viable second-division starting SS and a very good backup utility guy. And Wilson is really kind of exciting. His swing-and miss issues are very clear and obviously a huge question mark. But his athleticism-power and speed with good defense-are impressive. Between him and Duran, I think the Sox may very well have a viable JBJ replacement. There’s some obvious talent in the Sox system, but no clear-cut potential star beyond Casas. If they got a breakout or two from some of those second-tier guys (Mata, Dalbec, Duran, Wilson, Ward, etc.) it would be HUGE for the coming salary crunch. This is the most talented AFL roster I can remember for the Sox (even Diaz and Aybar have some real role-playing upside), and it’s going to be fun to see what they do.

Thinking of comps, Wilson sort of reminds me of a young Mike Cameron, although he’s unlikely to be as good...peak Cameron was a very, very good player...basically a 4-5 fWAR guy for almost 10 years when healthy. But the skill set seems reminiscent to me. If Wilson could pull a Dalbec and cut his K rate from low-30s% to mid-20s, you’re talking a starting-caliber CF as long as that walk rate stays over 10%, and the IsoP around .200.

Are all infielders with athleticism and speed shortstops? More to it than that.

He's not a CF from what I've seen and heard from scouts. That’s disappointing, in that it sets a substantially higher offensive bar. Edit: Is there a sort of consensus issue he has, like reads or jumps? Or just insufficient speed/range?
