They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Can Rick Porcello and Andrew Cashner keep the streak alive against this Royals team? Tough series to keep things rolling. I have faith though.

I have faith left as well and hoping to sweep and get on a run here.... but, I could easily see them losing the 1st two games to make 10 straight losses and be all but eliminated. Crazy times

Paragraphs has Sox at 16%. To make wildcard. 6% using coin flip.
I never studied Monte Carlo methods in any of my stats classes. Wonder what software is used.

Someone in the organization has an extremely methodical management style. Just think how long it took for Nunez to get on waivers ... How long it took Brewer to get optioned.
What's the next big decision? We'll all get an ulcer waiting for it.

So, how invested are we, folks? I will keep watching because it would be inspiring to see the team beat up on some bad teams. (if we can beat up the bad teams). We just learned a lot in the Tampa and MFY games. I think we will also learn alot in seeing the affect/performance of the team against those they should clobber. Stat padding time, anyway!

Definitely here for stat padding. Maybe for some momentum for young guys... Chavis, Hernandez, etc.

Can we please move on from Sandy Leon? Now that he clearly isn't the answer to Sale's problems is there any other reason he is getting playing time?

The team will stay focused on winning enough to stay on the margins of the WC race. Else viewership and revenues will plunge. Plunge more. Plunge more than they are.

The last decade of Boston sports has conclusively proven that more winning = worse fans.

Mike Tout is basically Raffy Devers with Mookie's plate discipline.

I'll be back to rooting for them once the steak is over, but for now, while it's climbing (looks like it'll end tonight) I find it fascinating that a team this good can be this bad.

Pretty weird way to be a fan of a baseball team, but I guess Red Sox Nation has a wide variety. Team isn't going anywhere. It's three only interesting thing left in the season. We are very different kinds of fans. I can can think of lots of interesting things about a baseball season that won’t even end in the playoffs. Mostly those things areabout the progress of players. - Will Marco Hernandez continue to hit like he permanently belongs on the active roster? - How much will Darwinzon Hernandez contribute? - What will Raffy’s home run total be? - If Porcello miraculously won (and threw well in) his last five starts, does he have any chance of getting a decent offer from the team? - Who’s getting called up in September? I could add ten more things that I’m interested to see. Seeing how long a losing streak will last and rooting for it...not one of them. Enjoy the season.

IMO the most urgent DFA for the Sox is Dave O'Brien. That dude sucks at his job.

Is anybody else ABSURDLY TIRED of seeing the pitching staff give up 0-2 hits, including a ton of 0-2 RBI hits??
Should never happen once.
