Contractually obliged to shout out Brown alum Christian Taugner Not Brown... Brown... Brown... (I can't hear "Brown" without thinking of that Simpsons clip, even in reference to my daughter's camp).

Looks like Kyri Washington has retired. He's had multiple arm surgeries, so looks like that got him.
We also missed that Mark Montgomery got released in May.
In the process of finding out about some other long-term MIA guys.

Danny Diaz is, indeed, with the DSL Red Sox2. Batting fifth and playing third base. So it's not an injury or a mistake on the transactions. Crazy.

Very strange. Gotta wonder if he requested it or something. I understand the performance hasn’t been there but it really hasn’t been all that different than what he did last year....the homers have just turned into doubles
Hopefully he mashes, otherwise we can probably write him off for the time being

Ehhh, I dunno... .238/.283/.476 to .210/.257/.343 is a pretty severe dropoff, more than just a few homers turning into doubles. Especially with a guy whose natural power is his selling tool.
And, kinda gotta recognize the elephant in the room here: the demotion being performance-based is the good scenario.

Cla Meredith getting "demoted" from Pawtucket to Wilmington for a weekend because he was in a wedding in Delaware but they wanted him to get an appearance in while he was away from the PawSox comes to mind. That said, it's a longshot.

I have no recollection of that but that is pretty amazing.
One reason that feels unlikely is because in 2019 they're hyping that up, right? Like "oh Danny Diaz in back in the DSL for a couple weeks because he needed to be at his adorable little sister's first day of school, who he is extremely close with" or something wouldn't just quietly happen on the transaction records on Thursday morning. That'd be all over the twitter feeds and such.

Eh, in 2019, not necessarily. If it were one of the three highest affiliates then yeah, and maybe even if the Drive or Spinners folks were made aware of it, but the GCL and DSL are where info goes to die.
But yeah, if you look at Meredith's 2005, he randomly pitched one game for Wilmington. That was why - want to say his sister was getting married in the area, so they "demoted him" so he could continue getting his work in. I remember all of us being extremely confused until the team gave an explanation, especially since at that point I don't know that we were even in direct contact with the affiliates, nevermind the Sox FO.

The decision to move him down there was because they thought it was the best place for him to continue his development. Take as you will.

Maybe he was having a tough time transitioning to life in the US or else has some family issues or both.

I suppose when it rains it pours - he was hit by a pitch and left the game.

Agreed, I was very interested in him and Trenton Kemp as outfielders for a while. Hope nothing but the best for Kyri.

Another one missed due to late updates of transactions, but Juan Carlos Abreu was released at the end of July.

In the process of finding out about some other long-term MIA guys. Kyri seemed like a nice guy and had a TE like football player's physique when chatted with him after he 1st reported to Ft Myer's after being drafted. Really strong arms, remember him drilling one off the monster there on a line while we were there that week. Nice power.

LOL, the only reason I know that there's an apartment building across the street behind the Drive Monster is that I remember him drilling a line drive off a 3rd floor balcony (MiLB.TV).

Good day for the farm system, overall. Wilson and Dalbec had great games, as did Zeferjahn. Perhaps his blister has healed. In terms of Diaz, who knows what is going on. I prefer more lower budget international signings..

Casas as well!! I'd love to see him promoted to Salem for just a few games this year.. He's going to start there next year, so why not give him a taste. He can find a nice rental in that part of Virginia for nothing. Beautiful scenery in Salem
