I've never seen him but SteveofBradenton has and commented that Decker has Vic Tanny forearms and impressive pop.

I wonder if Mata's velocity was down again tonight. He's at 86 IP now, a career high. Shugart back in the saddle again.

I have never posted here before, so forgive me if I mess up. I was at the Seadogs game on 8/10; the one they lost 7-3. I think I saw something incredible, but I'm not sure. There was a gang of very loud young children right behind us. They were so noisy it was hard to pay attention to the game. So here it is, Jarren Duran was on first after his second at bat, whether he walked or singled, I'm not sure. He stole second. The batter struck out, but the ball got away from the catcher. The batter stood there for a second and the Seadogs dugout hollered to him to run to first. In the meantime Jarren started to go from second to third. The catcher did not notice Jarren as he was focused on getting the ball and throwing to first. When Jarren got to third the catcher was just throwing to first so Jarren took off for home. The batter was finally out at first, but the return throw from first to home was off line, and Jarren scored. I believe that he scored from second on a strike out. Jarren has incredible speed. I can't wait to see him at Fenway replacing one of our outfielders that we can't afford to re-sign.

That’s a great story, I don’t think Duran ever sees Fenway as a full time starter at center, because I think Jimenez is the better prospect to take over center in 3 years

Throwing error by pitcher Scott Moss on the pickoff attempt. Marcus Wilson strikes out swinging. Jarren Duran scores. Wild pitch by pitcher Scott Moss.

If everything goes perfectly with Jimenez, he'll be ready in like 2023. I just Question if Duran will ever hit well enough and be good enough in the field to play center at Fenway. If he hits .270-.280 in majors with no pop, average fielding, and average arm....is that enough?

This wasn't your first point at all

If the rest of the lineup is as good as it should be that'd play.

Gary Pettis played less than 8 seasons worth of games, put up 17.8 career fWAR and batted .236 with significantly less power than Duran.
Billy Hamilton has played about 5 seasons worth of games, has put up 10.3 career fWAR and has batted .242 with significantly less power than Duran.
Dee Gordon has played about 6 years of games with a .288 batting average and significantly less power than Duran and has put up 12.5 fWAR
Jacoby Ellsbury has played about 8.25 years with a .284 career batting average and maybe a little more power than Duran and has 30.2 career fWAR.
Brett Gardner has played about 10 years of games with a .260 batting average and maybe a little more power than Duran and has 35.9 career fWAR.
Not star numbers but definitely playable.

Comparing minor league numbers (different situations acknowledged) for the above:
So far Duran: 178 games .331/.384/.458/.842 65 SB
Pettis: 603 games .273/.384/.381/.765 235 SB
Hamilton: 505 games .280/.351/.377/.728 396 SB !
Gordon: 510 games .300/.358/.386/.743 230 SB
Ellsbury: 273 games .312/.387/.424/.811 108 SB
Gardner: 391 games .290/.390/.385/.776 157 SB
stats from Baseball-Reference.com
Ellsbury is second only to Duran of that group in IsoP
Interesting tidbit. Gardner's career .740 OPS is 100 OPS+ so, an average hitting outfielder with speed is generating about 3.6 WAR/150 for his career.
Also of note, Duran's 2018 IsoD was .037, it's .064 in 2019.

Yeah I mean, Ellsbury (outside of the 2011 outlier year) is probably a decent ceiling comp for Duran. From 2012-2017, he was .272/.333/.392. That's a 98 ops+. With 50-55 defense and 30-40 SB that's a role 5 guy.
