And Chris Sale has a mediocre outing. I assume this is sarcasm. The second homer is disappointing, but he’s been good. 5 runs 3 ER in 6.2 IP. Not fantastic. Great peripherals, but that's not good.

Would not be surprised at all to see the Sox lose tonight. Can we officially put a fork in them and cue the fat lady if they lose?

I didn't say it was bad. 3 ER in 6 is a 4.5 ERA. The 5 runs shouldn't just be ignored even if he's off the hook for 2 of them. Still responsible for 3 in 6.2. Not very ace-like. Encouraging start, yes, but it's no better than a good night from E-rod.

Would not be surprised at all to see the Sox lose tonight. Can we officially put a fork in them and cue the fat lady if they lose? You mean the fork isn't already in them?? Good lord. They're 17.5 games behind the Yankees and 8.5 games behind the Rays for the 2nd wild card spot, Oakland is 7 up on them and they wouldn't even qualify for the playoffs if the season ended today. The Mets even have a better record than the Red Sox. Why would losing today be the official end for them? They were dead after Tampa buried them and after the Yankees danced on their graves with that four game sweep. That was when they didn't have a prayer. The 3-4 record the past week is basically the beginning of garbage time. Winning or losing tonight isn't going to change that.

4 walks, 14 hits, the team is clinging to a 1 run lead. Such a season.

He could strike out as many as he wants. 2 HR 5 R 3 ER in 6.2 IP isn't exactly putting your team on your back. I'm not saying he was awful, but it's mediocre, even if the stat line is pretty. If he keeps pitching like this, will he be better? Most likely, but for tonight the outcome wasn't stupendous.

Barnes can go take a hike and go get lost for all I care recently. Dude has had nothing lately and hasn't been used all that much.

What a tough season for Cora. His decisions aren't great...from waltzing the team through the spring, forcing Nunez into so many games and big spots, the "team meeting or...whoops...no team MTG BS, Benny as lead off until he wasn't, Eovaldi as closer until he is a starter, and on and on. Of course, his team playing poorly so often isn't helping him. What a 180 from last year.

So... no Eovaldi.
I don’t get it. Frankly, losing this game doesn’t even matter. But getting Eovaldi back up to speed for next year by starting him could be valuable.

There's our closer! In all seriousness, I am very disappointed with the front office this season. The last 1/3rd of the schedule is get-table.

With Workman coming in, what is the plan tomorrow? Hernandez should start. Nate threw so few pitches, he can help out as well. Then the off day

Let's admit it, after the World Series run and the awful road trip to start the season, the management has been trying to throw paint against the walls of an old home with hideous wallpaper. It just doesn't work.

He threw 6 pitches tonight. I would hope they'd be more cautious with a guy who's had the elbow problems that Eovaldi has had. The playoffs are äll but out of reach. Why take the risk?

Sandy did a shitty job of catching that 2nd pitch. Heard Swihart was DFAd. Can we cut Sandy and bring back Blake?

Yet another example of it NOT being our year. We are a talented team playing very poorly...the story of 2019, with so many "microcosm" games. 22 blown saves ( but some here don't see that as an issue!)
