Lowell would clinch the Stedler with a win and a Connecticut loss. ... though the gametime weather looks a little dicey for both today.

Roldani with a dinger. Looks like the GCL squad started the game a little early today.

PawSox also postponed. They'll play two at 4:35p tomorrow; Lowell's DH is at 6p.

I wonder if it would make sense to start the GCL a couple weeks earlier, just since a lot of these games end up getting cancelled anyway.

Lowell would clinch the Stedler with a win and a Connecticut loss. Lowell's story on the rainout states that even just a CT loss gives Lowell the division. CT got rained out too, as it turns out, but I think the magic number is one. I'm assuming that's because in case of a tie Lowell has the better division record. The Playoff Procedues page states this: ... but I can't find the rulebook anywhere with a working link.

A shout out to Casey Sutherland. He has 26 IP with 17 hits and a .68 ERA.

Cora said today team looking to bring up bullpen help (obviously) and a “right-handed hitter” via roster expansions.
Bobby....? *heavy breathing*

Thanks for the link. Kid has shown a consistent bat over two seasons with Greenville and Salem. Looks to have a bright future, though, like Chatham, will have to move to 2b or UT.

It would also be possible, given how Lowell's communications have gone this year, that they just got the magic number wrong in the story.

Yeah it wouldn't be for the purpose of avoiding rain entirely, but if you add two weeks to the schedule and play, say, 8 games over that span, you're at least making up for a lot of the cancelled games that you get in the traditional GCL season block.

On 25 man roster, Dalbec and Chatham need to be added to the 40 man roster at the end of year. Why not call up Dalbec in August 31st so if the rare chance the Sox make the postseason, he would be eligible.
Owings has not hit at all, so he could be released.

You can replace someone on the 60-day with someone who wasn't on the roster before 8/31.
