Nelson Cruz signed a 1 year $14M contract. He never made more than $15M a year. Why would anyone give JDM more than 3/$66M?

Porcello is so putrid. Can’t wait to never have to watch him pitch again.

Because he makes all the hitters on the roster better? You get his offense and maybe the best hitting coach in the league in one package. He brings another factor

He brings another factor That doesn't add $7m per year that any team will pay for. It might make a team bump an extra season or million, but not that much. Papi never made anything close to it either.

Just a typical home game this year.

Counter point: The Red Sox were never going to win every game for the rest of the season. Best to get this one out of the way, considering they probably have a .100 winning percentage for home games after west coast trips going back 30 years.

LOL what a effort by Porcello in the middle of a wild card race. Get rid of this bum.

What a loser Porcello is. Right when you need him most. This is a bunch of crap to talk like this about your own players. It's not like he's a fat slob and doesn't work hard. When a player performs like crap. Expect brushback. That's my advice to you.

Just did a bunch of stuff and thought I'd catch the score and sure enough....the Sox must be playing a good team...and at home, too.
Won't miss watching Porcello implode as he did so often this year. I suppose he'll be better next year. Hard to be much worse, although given what Velazquez/Johnson, etc has given them this year (and an injured Eovaldi who never had spring training or minor league rehab time) has managed to do just that.
As Eck would say, "Yuch"

I'm not much for calling players names, especially given the fact that when I look back at Porcello's time with the Sox it will be with fondness due to a Cy Young Award and coming through when it really mattered - like in 2018. Nothing has really mattered THAT much this season since TB and NYY took a sledge hammer to the season at the end of July/beginning of Aug. That said, while he doesn't deserve name calling, saying he has performed like crap is a very fair and accurate statement. I'm sure he'd agree.

if the Twins scoring algorithm holds up, they will score 4 in the 7 inning.

He's having, no lie, the worst season I have ever seen from a full season from a starting pitcher by a Red Sox pitcher. Calling him a bum on the mound is putting it mildly this year. I have nothing against the guy, I'm just tired of seeing him pitch in this uniform.

30 pitch first inning? Yikes Porcello through 2 innings and 1 run with 47 pitches. Porcello is a joke this year. Get this bum off the mound. What a loser Porcello is. Right when you need him most. After a season of disappointment from this dude, after the worst performance I have ever seen, after trying to hold for any kind of a playoff come back, to see this happen is just me finally boiling over.

I won't necessarily attack them personally (unless they're David Price, Dustin Pedroia or Pablo Sandoval), but it's fair to call their performance yuck or say they suck. Like, I don't see the reason to hate on Porcello, just like I don't see the need to hate on JBJ (someone I'm personally tired of). Are they awful? Yes. Do they seem to be at least trying and not causing drama? Yes.

I have nothing against the guy, I'm just tired of seeing him pitch in this uniform. C'mon, you must remember John Lackey's 2011 season. It wasn't that long ago. He was pitching injured but that guy had an ERA above 6 and the league ERA and HR issues were nowhere near as bad as this season's. Maybe because when he got healthy in 2013 that's your memory of him - being the guy who won the clinching game of the Series? Otherwise how can you forget?! I remember Al Nipper being atrocious in 1986, Mike Torrez being lousy in 82. And plenty of lousy performances in between. Porcello's miserable season is in line with a lot of lousy miserable seasons that I've seen pitchers have for the Sox. Zane Smith in 1995 was a torch and there were a lot of guys who were replaced that didn't get a chance to be as awful full-time.
