No reason to play any regulars the rest of the year. Give them a elongated off season. Maybe stretch D- Hernandez out and see how he looks as a starter? DFA Porcello tonight. Let's see Dalbach. Shit let's get a look at some young pitchers that are not ready but you never know...... Mata, Feltman, Groome, etc

Just thought I'd peek at the latest trash you posted since I've had you hidden most of the season. You didn't disappoint me, as usual. Sorry you don't like being called out on stupid posts accusing the players of not trying. What evidence do you have other than performance that they don't care? This is still a very likable team full of hard workers. Unless you have any evidence whatsoever to the contrary, which I completely doubt. I'm waiting. I know you have me blocked, but you cannot help posting to me constantly in a passive aggressive manor because you hate being called out for being a joke. I mean you're so gd stubborn that you think that someone isn't clutch when they hit a 110 mph out and think someone who gets a 50 mph RBI single is a better player so I don't even know why I bother arguing with such stupidity. Anyone who thinks aiming their hits is a skill, never played baseball ever. If only we could rid ourselves of you and pedro, this board would be 100 times better. It would go back to exactly as intelligent as it was before you guys got here. I’m almost always with Jim, but minor quibble... I think hitters can aim to a degree. Not as in some five-foot box, but certainly pull/go opposite field, etc. That doesn’t really make your point moot, but it is one thing that drives me insane these days.... guys who are stymied by shifts. No doubt in older days when bat control mattered more, that would happen far less. Otherwise... everyone carry on.

Amazing Chacin in that inning. He gave up 3 line drives, but they were all caught so he's amazing. That's the complete opposite of Porcello who gave up 4 fly balls and 2 home runs. Yep.. keep the ball on the ground Porcello

If Porcello tries hard, he can get his ERA up to 6 by season's end Watch him sign with the Astros and win 20 games with an era just a tick above 3.00 next year...

Yep.. keep the ball on the ground Porcello It's a losing call to ask for him to keep the ball on the ground every single time. Anyone who could do it would lose. It's just not possible for any reasonable human being.

I swear, no one has even looked at how anyone on any other team has pitched. They have just assumed that every team has given up the same runs they've given up every year instead of the 1 run extra that every team has given up every year.

I heard an awful lot about pitch recognition last year, but not this year..How come? I used that when i played baseball to great success to a 417 BA. I always looked to see how i was being played and made it a point to hit where they weren't and it happened a good portion of the time. some pitchers i just couldn't solve, but it was a solid 65-70% successful. to say they can't aim the ball is ludicrous. You wait on the ball or attack it early depending they position you.

Gleyber Tores is about as good of a hitter as Benintendi. He just hits in a park that benefits him.
Imagine if AB played in Yankee stadium and hit 35 HR a year.
That is what we're dealing with now.

Wishes for the last 20 games....
Shut Price down
DFA Porcello or use him as mob up pen
Stretch out Hernandez for a good look
Good look at Dalbac
Look at any and all pitching prospects on the cusp of being ready (Lakins, Shawaryn, Houck, Mata, Feltman, Ward etc)
Can Duran play OF now (Betts and/or JBJ trade)
Peak at Casas?
Thoughts?

Thoughts? Price won't get shut down unless necessary. Porcello will never be DFA'd because they aren't assholes. Hernandez won't be stretched out at this point of the season. Dalbec isn't getting called up or he would be already. No more prospects will be called up. Duran won't be moved up. Neither will Casas.

Great win by the Patriots today. This team is so ridiculously loaded that it's disgusting. I honestly think they could win with Stidham with how stacked they look. 33-3 against a good defense and that's before AB joins the team. OL looks a tad thin, but Brady and Scar will make it work.
Oh, I'm sorry, was there a baseball game today?

If it were possible for some guys to do, that would be the obvious adaptation to the shift. So why don't we see it more? I wonder if it's just that the heavy shifting is still a pretty new innovation. (They showed a graphic during the game that shifts against JBJ have gone from ~33% a few years ago to 52% of ABs just last season to 67% this season.) And guys who came up without so much shifting may find it hard to adjust. But maybe young guys will start hitting to the opposite field more? It would be nice to see - add a little bit of subtlety back to the Dingers-'n-Ks fest.

well it is true. DD is fired...wow!
i'd guess those random buzzings we were hearing here and there of him becoming more and more isolated and only hanging out with his pals LaRussa and Wren were true.

I am officially concerned for Raffy. he's hitting 188 / 257 / 359 since about the time he had 8 straight hits in 2 different games, that was fun to watch. hope he snaps out of it soon.

Hitting the ball hard is absolutely always the goal for every batter in the history and future of baseball. Yet go back 30 years and look at how many guys struck out over 100 times a season. That used to be a real badge of shame unless you were one of the few guys hitting 40 HRs a year. Contact. Choke up with two strikes, etc etc. All that is a piece of a very different approach from today, when no one cares if you strike out as long as you also walk and hit home runs. Indeed, I believe the classic phrase is “hit ‘em where they ain’t,” not “hit it so hard you make SportsCenter.”
