They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Sounds like Chavis is done for the year. Is he penciled in as the opening day second baseman? I’m cool with it if he is.

Guy can't pitch well when they need him to. When they're out of it, he finally pitches well. Unbelievable.

You can say the same thing about this bullpen, who hasn't seen a important inning in a month in a half. Now they're performing pretty well the past month and a half, when they're out of if. The bullpen stinks tonight. That's probably a good thing because of draft position.

Lol right when the Sox get eliminated from postseason contention with the win by Cleveland, they hit a game tying homerun.
The 2019 Sox are the most frustrating team ever.

No way. This team is way worse. 2018 takes the sting out of this bad year. We have had a bunch of good stuff. X and devers and erod turned into the studs we been expecting. Workman and josh Taylor and Darwinzon have proven to be studs in the pen. Top 20 pick coming next year. We get a fresh and shiny new gm. If I say 2011 first few things to come to mind would be a brutal collapse and beer and chicken Add. Not to mention epic X extension

No way. This team is way worse. You should have your memory checked. After leading the Tampa Bay Rays by nine games in the AL wild card race on September 3—when their odds of reaching the postseason peaked at 99.6%—the Red Sox lost 18 of their final 24 games.[6] On the last day of the season, September 28, a ninth inning Red Sox blown save loss against the Baltimore Orioles,[7] coupled with an extra inning come from behind victory by the Rays over the Yankees,[8] made the Rays the AL wild card winners, eliminating the Red Sox from postseason contention. And that Yankees Rays game #162 was 7-0 Yankees at one point. If the Yankees won, the Red Sox were in the playoffs. I remember thinking, ok, that loss to Baltimore sucked, but they're still making it as I watched the Yankees hand the game on a silver platter to the Rays to crush the Red Sox. It wasn't far behind 1978, 1986 and 2003. This season isn't 1/100th as crushing.

Oh yeah, and Papelbon struck out the first two Orioles in the bottom of the 9th of the game that would have clinched the wild card berth. Also, the Yankees were leading the Rays 7-0 to start the bottom of the 8th freaking inning. Their win expectancy was actually 100.0%. The Red Sox were at 95%. It may have been the most unprobable missing of the playoffs in history.

I still remember sitting in my couch just shocke,The win probability for the Sox had to be in the 90s in the ninth inning and in the high 90s for the Yankees when they were up big. I don’t think I moved for an hour after watching andino than longo

Kelly is 0-3 and 9.45 ERA in such a short brief period of time.
edit: 7 relief appearances.
Mind blown.
