They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Huh, just noticed that in this huge breakout season for Bogaerts and Devers, which is also a disappointing down year for Mookie Betts, the team leader in fWAR is now... Mookie Betts. 8th in the majors.

That throw the other night was worth 5.0 fWAR and 3.5 bWAR, which tipped the scales in his favor.
(Seriously though, it's a good reminder that OBP is king.)

At least Eduardo has a great chance to get win number 20 with old pal Chandler Shepherd on the mound.
I'm going to miss that game. Taking the out the dad to see the new Rambo. Watching the Pats game until 4.

This is the official Devern Hansack tribute series. I always remember that game because I only lived in the East Providence apartment I was in watching that game for 2 months. One of my roommates was a Dominican whose dream was to write a movie about Latin Americans signing to play baseball and getting released, called Released (it sounded somewhat less weird when he described it). That was also the first time I tried fried plantains and fried yuca, so, successful 2 months between that and the lobsterman's no-no.

I've never met anyone from East Providence that wasn't currently living in the same neighborhood they grew up in. There's no such thing as a EP transplant.

In 17 games, Gorkys has racked up -0.5 fWAR. Travis is at -0.7. Marco Hernandez: -0.4. Owings: -0.2. Leon: -0.2. Pearce: -0.9. And the granddaddy of them all, gone but never forgotten: The Nunez: -1.0.
One of the Sox' real problems this season is that their replacements have been significantly below replacement level.

A fine reason why none of them except possibly Hernandez should be anywhere near the opening day 25-man in 2020... Also, makes me really value Brock Holt.

Hopefully this year is a mulligan for Eovaldi coming back from a injury, but his results are raising real red flags here.

Well, they won't make it to double digits over .500 as the best they can do now is win 85 and given the pitching matchup tomorrow, that's not even as likely. 84 wins seems like the final win total - and if they do win 84 let's hope it is E-Rod getting his 20th win.
Meanwhile, I'm still hoping for Mookie's 30th HR, Moreland's 20th HR, and Devers' 200th hit.

Xander with a two run bomb. One of things you can feel very good about is the left side of the infield.
And a fun back to back job by JDM! Baseball can be fun.
