They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Athletics are expected to announce later today whether they're using Manaea or Fiers as the starter. Manaea was pretty amazing after he came back.

Not bad. I'd have the Rays lower than the Astros and Dodgers. The Dodgers because them winning would actually make people happy (unlike the Rays, who nobody actually likes), and the Astros because of Greinke.

1969, Expos and Seattle Pilots inaugural season. Brewers went to NLCS in '11 & '18. Those are the only 2 postseason series wins since '82 ... both teams combined. They have 4 series wins combined since '69. 100 seasons combined without a WS title.

Drew Pomeranz, relief ace is on for the Brewers. F him. He’s throwing 97 how is that even possible?

Same way Eovaldi was able to throw 102 in the pen. So many starters would just dominate in short stints.
I've really never understood why have a problem with Pomeranz. He was huge in '17 and tried to gut things out in '18 when he obviously was never healthy.

But really, how the hell is Pomeranz throwing 97?

How much does Pomeranz cost as a free agent? And could he replace Porcello?

As long as the Yankees or Cardinals don’t win it, I’m good most years. I am rooting for the Twins. They are my second favorite team if I had to pick one...not sure why. Beyond that, I’m not a huge Dodgers fan, but I would like to see Kershaw win a ring at some point. And my wife and I just moved to DC this summer, so I would like to see the Nationals do well.

When he was Oakland’s closer he was throwing 95 not 97
Correction he wasn't the Oakland closer he was working out of the bullpen, He had 9 starts and 44 games out of the bullpen that season and according to brooks baseball his average velocity on his 4 seam was 93

How unlikely is it that the Brewers went absolutely insane without Yelich's help.

Pomeranz pulled after 30 pitches. Now Hader will stall before getting the 6th out.

Corbin aginst the Dodgers and then whoever for the next few games...
You're welcome, says Alex Cora. You finally lived to see tomorrow.

One reason it was so impossible to make the postseason. - The A's went 47-24 after the All Star break.

With all the talk about labeling Betts "generational" or otherwise, how about that Sosa kid for the Nationals? Between he and Acuna, they will probably spend the next decade or so battling for the MVP award and succeeding Mike Trout as the best players in the game.
Sosa is all of 20, has phenominal plate discipline, serious power, and an excellent hit tool.
