So far, the Brewers lost on a bullpen implosion. The Braves lost to a bullpen implosion and the Cardinals survived a bullpen implosion because they were playing the Braves. I kind of want to continue seeing this trend continue throughout the playoffs.

So far, the Brewers lost on a bullpen implosion. The Braves lost to a bullpen implosion and the Cardinals survived a bullpen implosion because they were playing the Braves. I kind of want to continue seeing this trend continue throughout the playoffs. And then everyone can say they didn't spend enough money on their bullpens. With the ball the way it is, good pitching cannot even beat weak hitting all of the time. I've seen way too many home runs hit on incredible pitches a foot outside the strikezone this year, hit by guys who were never home run hitters. This happened to Sale all year. Perfect example of a ball that should never be a home run - the Devers 3 run bomb against Verlander in game 5 last year. It was a 98 mph fastball up and in, that he inside outed into a 359 foot pop fly home run. And it's also funny that Moreland hit a 326 foot pop fly double off the wall right before it on a 96 mph fastball at the top outside corner of the strike zone. That's happening with any type of batter. It's why Verlander gave up 36 home runs this year as one of the top 2-3 pitchers in baseball. Also keep in mind that a juiced ball helps non-home runs as well.

Also, I don't know how the Braves let Melancon face 9 batters with 7 of them reaching base. That leash was just a tad too long.

What could have been. Jack Flaherty was drafted 34th in the 2014 draft. I'd trade Chavis for him straight up. hehe
And as I type this he gives up a 2 run HR. Sorry Cards fans.
Another ridiculously slow hook. When will these managers learn? He was still in the game at 110 pitches starting the 4th time through the order!

The Cardinals draft and develop their players about as well as any team in baseball. Kind of annoying, really...but you have to acknowledge it. That’s a really well-run organization.

Agree, but I think the drafting part of it is the most important part. I think the Red Sox could have developed Flaherty. Kopech was drafted one pick before him.

And a blotched play at first gives the Yankees two freebees (so far).

So Adam Boone used Ottavino for 1 batter in the 5th inning. Reminded of how thoroughly he was out-managed by Cora in the playoffs last year...

Wow, that was a criminally stupid intentional walk. Very much rooting for that to backfire.

Can the Twins ever beat the Red Sox or Yankees? When the Red Sox were losing every series against +.500 teams and then beat the Twins I really wanted to put an asterisk on it.
I don't know what it is, but they feel like they'll always be perpetual losers, even during a 100 win season. I doubt they even win a game.

Let me get this straight: The Twins starter in game 2 is a guy whose total major league experience is 9 games, 5 starts??? This isn't spring training. It's the friggin' playoffs!!
