I don't even remember Baseball Prospectus letting me do their rankings.

They actually go out to 20. 16. Jaxx Groshans Hot take: Groshans may not have been the 16th-best prospect on the Spinners this year.

Hot take: Groshans wasn't the 16th-best prospect on the Spinners this year. LOL. Most are at least defensible but...

On my list, he was 15th if you count the late call-ups from the GCL, but just one spot ahead of Scott, 3 ahead of catcher Jonathan Diaz, and 5 ahead of YPA, so... It's close.

Look at Diaz's season though. He barely played. Knowing why would help. Might hear more on that in the spring. May have been hurt - he did nothing but DH for like 3 weeks.
28% K rate is also uninspiring.

The Sox put him into a crowded catcher situation so they must see something. He has a lot of growing to do so, a learning experience might have been the prescription. On a comparative note to Jaxx, I've never been no longer enamored with bat only catchers. I'm pretty sure you are like me and remember a ton of those who never got past AA.

No quibbles with any of that from me!
Note, though, that he's only a year younger than Groshans given that he signed at 18. That's part of why he's moved quick.

I'm guessing he also likely has a lot of repeat levels ahead of him since he's likely pretty raw.
ADD: You can tell it's the off season when we are debating the number 56 & 57 prospects.

Not that hot of a take: Dedgar isn't a top 30 pitcher in the system

Dedgar isn't even the best minor league free agent left-handed swingman who spent most of 2019 on the Portland Sea Dogs.
Still love him though and hope he re-signs.

Oh no, Dedgar Jimenez is a minor league free agent. How could they let a top-20 prospect hit free agency like that.

Poyner is only at 34 MLB innings, so if they don't consider service time and official rookie status for their prospect list then I guess he'd qualify. Kinda silly though, he's pitched in 33 games over two years and he'll be 27 in three weeks.
Are we keeping Chris Murphy a secret? I can see the BPro list missing him because that list is kooky, but the MLB iteration is generally sensible.

Don't know when they put the list together, but Crawford's TJS may have affected his standing if they had it by then.

Is this a new list (they dont usually do new ones until after the new year) or just a summation of the system based on the midseason update (less any graduations)?

I can see the BPro list missing him because that list is kooky, but the MLB iteration is generally sensible. The link says that they use rookie eligibility, which includes ST. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The MLB list seems to (a) place heavy value on proximity to the majors, and (b) not place much into what draftees did after signing - not zero value, but these guys probably would've ranked where they are on July 15, it seems. And generally, it seems to be more conservative with guys rising or falling. Like Flores and Feltman didn't drop too much. Don't know when they put the list together, but Crawford's TJS may have affected his standing if they had it by then. Yeah my guess is that they didn't know. Scouting report doesn't mention it, and you'd figure it would.

Is the Sox' system getting (pitching) rich enough to have this sort of snafu from sensible analysts??

That actually makes sense. Shawaryn is listed at 22 in the article but is 21 on the list. Liu not being in yet explains that discrepancy as well as Poyner being on there despite having graduated.

Another previously unknown, ProspectsLive although the author rings some kind of deep bell for me. The list and write ups that I read look decent enough, nothing looks as egregious as some. www.prospectslive.com/lists/2019/11/14/red-sox-2020-top-30-prospects1. Casas 2. Dalbec 3. Mata 4. Groome 5. Jiminez 6. Duran 7. Song 8. Lugo 9. Ward 10. Houck 11. Chatham 12. Cannon 13. Ramirez (Aldo) 14. Zeferjahn 15. Decker 16. Howlett 17. Murphy 18. Bello 19. Wilson 20. Flores 21. Rafaela 22. Shawaryn 23. Feltman 24. Lakins 25. Bazardo 26. Diaz (Danny) 27. Rodriguez (Jorge) 28. Hart 29. Aybar 30. Ockimey
