Let DMaineah know, per Pete Abraham, Red Sox are actively shopping JBJ.

Let DMaineah know, per Pete Abraham, Red Sox are actively shopping JBJ. [twitter url="h "] Yup. I'd guess that JBJ is dealt away before the winter meetings end on Thursday. I'll guess he's dealt to either the Cubs or Dbacks. I'll say Cubs although AZ might have some spare starting pitching to part with.

I’ll say White Sox.

I'll guess the Rangers. Although, the White Sox may be the better fit.

The Red Sox are definitely playoff contenders as they shed salary.

Really curious to see if they can get a serviceable backend starter for JBJ. Preferably a cheap one. Would help fill Porcello’s spot in the rotation.

I really hate this. Bradley brings a lot to the team at a decent price, and I’d much rather move Martinez’s contract (given his inability to capably play defense). Outfield defense has been so critical to our recent success, and JBJ is literally right in the middle of it. Keep Jackie!

If the Sox ask for any kind of half way prospect plus not pay a dime of JBJ's salary, there is no chance of moving JBJ. It's pretty much keep him, or package him with someone who has value which has been mentioned on this board multiple times already. The 11m is probably more than he's worth as it is.

Hard to see a JBJ trade fetching any more than what Buchholz did.

Wouldn't the arbitration # be designed to be close to true value and if anything a little low? I mean if their is a true - gap and it decreases his value in a trade to the extent that you have to add another piece then don't sign him at that #. That would be the Sox choice right?

If they thought they had to attach an asset, they would have just non-tendered him. Therefore I believe they think they can get value without having to pay. Presumably based on discussions that occurred before the non-tender deadline. But I'm still a little surprised.

Intelligent strategically? the smart thing to do ? or can they survive long term. Fact is the Sox have others coming up to think about and how does it effect them. Their is a lot to it because it is really about the future costs, not just next yr.

Crickets...... From MLBTR Chat With Mark Polishuk, "Not much as of late. Even moreso than his salary or lack of hitting, teams must be wary of Bradley's defensive decline (at least via UZR/150 and Defensive Runs Saved) in 2019. If he isn't providing elite defense and his bat still isn't productive, then Bradley doesn't have much value overall" www.jotcast.com/chat/mlbtr-chat-with-mark-polishuk-6626.html

JBJ should have been dealt last winter. I think this is case and point why Betts needs to either be dealt this winter if the team wants much more than a draft pick for him. Sometimes it is OK to sell high.
