For a supposedly bankrupt farm system with most of its big talent still in the lower minors, this is a very good crop to be added to a very good MLB team. Moreso considering that this same farm also harvested Darwinzon, Taylor, Walden and Chavis, among others, last year.

Robinson Leyer seems like a real surprise, though he does have some giddy up on that fastball

I really want to see Feltman make a huge jump this year. Interesting bunch. Love to see Mata get close this upcoming year.

Without having done a thorough look, that feels younger than usual, although Arauz, Ward, and Aybar are all certainly starting in at least AA. Truth is probably somewhere in between.

Is this a new program - Is this like an extension of instructs? I think it started 4-5 years ago and is for players who have a chance at making the majors this year. It's supposed to make the eventual jump slightly less overwhelming by getting them used to Fenway and the way things are done in the majors. I imagine they go over the mass amounts of data they get now because that probably takes quite awhile to get used to. They should know what to expect a little more after they go through it. Seems like a really great idea to me.

Does SoxProspects.com have a page listing the history of Rookie Development program participants? Of course it does! www.soxprospects.com/rookiedev.htmEdit: Where it's noted (MLB), it means that the Red Sox sent the player to MLB's rookie development program.

Wow, it's been going on way longer than I thought! Kinda strange they didn't do one last season.

I very much miss the days when they used to do either a signing at the team store or the New Stars for Young Stars Jimmy Fund benefit in conjunction with the rookie program. For the former, especially, I am pretty sure they taught a class about dealing with fans and autograph hounds ("Seriously, they'll rip your hair out and turn around and sell it on ebay!") and then immediately marched the players across the street where about a thousand people were lined up waiting. Jed Lowrie's expression from 2008 was pretty typical: It did seem like a reasonable lesson to teach! But they've replaced that with the day where they do community service.

I hope that whoever is the biggest "character" is making a video. The past ones were classics.
