A little bit? I see that but could coaching and listening can help that. Plus it is sometimes needed.

I mean... yeah. Look at the number of players they've signed the last two years (ignore 2017-18, they were making up for not signing anyone the year before).

Signing three (or more) players from Curacao would appear to be the most Boston has signed from that country in a single class.

Nice. $1.5M was the bottom of the 1.5-2M scale Badler had reported.
When you're working with $5.3M total, $500k is a lot of money!

Would have been nice to get one of the top 3 or 4 SS's out of Venezuela. Sox have been signing a lot of kids out of there the past few of years. I know they have a cap but still... ....maybe they have their eye on a bigger prize (Lawlar or Mayer).

If they have that kind of money to blow it's somewhat curious as to why. I'm confused by your post. Every team has a cap. Theirs is in the middle. $6,431,000: Cincinnati, Detroit, Miami, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Tampa Bay $5,889,600: Arizona, Baltimore, Cleveland, Colorado, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, San Diego, St. Louis $5,348,100: Boston, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Houston, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Oakland, Seattle, San Francisco, Texas, Toronto, Washington $4,732,700: Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia $4,232,700: New York Yankees $1,572,000: Atlanta Would have been nice to get one of the top 3 or 4 SS's out of Venezuela. Sox have been signing a lot of kids out of there the past few of years. I know they have a cap but still... ....maybe they have their eye on a bigger prize (Lawlar or Mayer). The international and draft markets are completely unrelated. The Red Sox spend up to their cap in the IFA market every year, and spend up to the draft cap +5% mark every year. I'm not sure the significance of a Venezuelan shortstop. But I will reference how Ben Badler ranks these guys now before they sign. He only ranks them purely by bonus because we simply don't know nearly enough about them to come to any kind of intelligent conclusions or projections. Considering how well the Red Sox have done in the international market since Eddie Romero took over that department, especially with low-money bonuses, I've personally taken an approach of sitting back and seeing who they get, then evaluating them when they get in the system. Consider the following: Bonaci $290k Jimenez $10k (!) Bello $28k Mata $25k D. Hernandez $7,500 (!!!) Guerra $250k Basabes $450k ea. Margot $800k Bogaerts $410k

Chris, there were some really good SS prospects available out of Venezuela this year.
The other part (bigger prize in the draft) was kind of a joke.
Also, did the Sox get docked some IFA money for the "cheating" scandal?

Per Speier, the Red Sox signed RHP Jedixson Paez from VZ. Incredible name.

Interesting that Ben Badler has Bleis at $1.8 mil for his bonus...

Does anyone have a pronunciation key for "Jedixson?"
