Seems that if they can't sign Yorke at a substantial discount then they aren't signing Jordan which would effectively create a punt to 2021. i'm pretty sure all will be signing..unless you heard Yorke don't want to sign for under slot? but from what I've read all will be signing. I haven't seen anything either way, mostly speculation. Just pointing out that this is pretty much an either/or situation unlike a normal year. BA thinks he will be a tough sign but again, just speculation at this point.

Smaller frame pitcher at 5'9 170. Played at Wallace CC before Tampa, same CC as Oranj Anu, so I'm sure they are very familiar with him.

A scouting report of Montero from last year, courtesy of Perfect Game:
Juan Montero is a 2020 C/2B with a 5-10 173 lb. frame from Ponce, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Medium frame with good present strength. Right handed hitter, hits from a high hand set and big barrel wrap start, open stance, big leg raise trigger that he does a good job of getting down on time, has lots of present bat speed and can drive the ball hard, loose and extended out front, whole body swing, squared up the ball consistently, aggressive hitter with next level hitting tools. 6.98 runner, has very good quickness behind the plate both in his feet and his transfer, long arm stroke, makes on line accurate throws. Well rounded athlete and ball player. Good student. Named to the Sunshine East Showcase Top Prospect List.
He was committed to Kansas City Community College.

DiValerio DiValerio, a righthanded pitcher from Nescopeck, Pennsylvania, got off to a great start in 2020, posting a 3-1 record and a 2.38 earned run average in four starts. His 33 strikeouts tied him for the league lead, while his .193 opponents' batting average was second among Atlantic 10 hurlers with as many innings pitched. A year earlier, DiValerio made 12 appearances, all starts, and led the SJU staff in wins, opponents' batting average, innings pitched, and strikeouts en route to a spot on the 2019 All-Big 5 Team. sjuhawks.com/news/2020/5/21/senior-spotlight-jordan-divalerio-baseball.aspx

The Carter Capps rule definitely made that hop step illegal.

Since he drags his foot and doesn't take a second step it is a legal delivery and what Capps used when he returned.

Only three guys on BA's tracker that were ranked by BA so far, but not a lot of action in general.

Seems that if they can't sign Yorke at a substantial discount then they aren't signing Jordan which would effectively create a punt to 2021. This would give the Sox more bonus money to move around in a loaded 2021. Gives the Sox more leverage with Yorke.

On paper, sounds like about as good a prospect as you could hope for for 20k.

On paper, sounds like about as good a prospect as you could hope for for 20k. Definitely the most intriguing guy of the 6 guys they signed. The organization can certainly use a good hitting catcher with upside.
