BB% K% ISO wRC+ 2021 11.80% 15.60% .190 149 2024 9.30% 16.00% .209 141
Interested to hear what Chris and Ian have to say on the next podcast but from the surface it looks pretty good
Saw him in Hartford Friday and was hitting some rockets
Edit: formatting this is a nightmare but you get the idea

Not entirely sure why 2021 vs 2024 is the metrics being looked at for Yorke. I would find looking at his 2023 vs 2024 as more pertinent since he was in AA for all of last 2023 and is currently there.
2023 BB% 10.1% K% 24.1% wRC+ 116 2024 BB% 9.3% K% 16.0% wRC+ 141
2024 so far is just 17 Gs and a 75 PA sample size which is obviously small but it feels like he must be on the precipice of a promotion to AAA in the coming weeks here. That K% dropping would be some nice development progression if that is not just a function of a SSS/hot streak which is certainly good be. Something to keep an eye on though.

I think the point is that 2021 was the year that got us excited about Yorke having the potential to be a top offensive player, and in a small sample size he is close to those stats in 2024.

Yorke clearly has been a different player since 2021. My point is this is the first time is numbers have returned to 2021 levels

511 ABs at Portland, time for promo with Grissom out of the way? Gaping hole at second unless Valdez is sent down, not going to be a struggle to find at bats in outfield either though

I feel like people forget Nick is only 22.

Looking at the offensive lines of the legit prospects in the system, I think Yorke has been the most impressive so far. It's still early and I don't know the statcast numbers, and he's doing AA a second time, but it's a great start.

I completely agree that Yorke is doing well - which is great for the farm system and potentially for the Front Office (as his prospect status rises). Saying all that, Mayer (offense/defense) has been their best overall prospect in the early going.

I'm guessing it's because he was fully healthy in 2021. And may be again this year.

Is it fair to say Yorke has the highest ceiling of our 2B options or is that Grissom?

Is it fair to say Yorke has the highest ceiling of our 2B options or is that Grissom? I think they have just about the same ceiling: bat-first fringe all star at 2B. Yorke hasn’t looked like that guy for the last couple of years, though, and Grissom hasn’t been tested in the bigs for an extended period of time, so pretty long odds that either of them hits that ceiling.

The other side of that are guys like TON and a bunch of rookies like Rafaela, Bernardino, Abreu who are doing alright. We shall see soon.

From Alex Speier’s Minor Leagues Notes today at the Globe: "Maybe, but maybe not. It could happen, but it could also not happen. It might happen soon; it might not happen soon but then happen after a while; but it might not happen then either. All we can say is it didn't already happen some time in the past -- or did it?"
