Say whatever you'd like about the deal, but stay away from the personal attacks on the principals. This isn't a Twitter forum with all the comment baggage posts are subjected to. It's about baseball.

I just hope this translates to a better strike zone for our pitchers.

He is basically just an investor, Henry still has full control...Not much is gonna change. Fenway Sports Group just gets an influx of some cash. There are a lot of owners we probably don't even know about.
My "hate" for LeBron is sports rivalry based, I have nothing really against him as a person. From a baseball standpoint there is really no effect. It wouldn't surprise me to see Lebron lead an ownership group for a Sporting Franchise someday though. I could definitely see him following in the footsteps of Micheal Jordan and Magic Johnson.

I've never been a lebron fan but he likely owns such a small part of the team that it's kind of irrelevant. On the other hand if he wants to be active at all maybe he could help recruit free agents. He seems awfully good at it in the nba maybe it could translate a bit. Not getting my hopes up though.

Yeah. The Yankee fan thing is an interesting part to this. Of course, when you got a lot of money to make more money, the primary color of importance is green.
FSG is building an empire. Having notable owners is smart business. He has been a great ballplayer, though I remain partial to the players in the 80's as the sport's true geniuses. That was the golden age of Basketball.

Heard a rumor they're going to test allowing the Euro Step in Low A this year.

Following up on Norm's post above, please stick to baseball. This isn't the forum to discuss the other stuff. Thanks!

There's no problem at all. You can praise or damn. Just don't do it in this thread. Take it to the throwdown (which I did) because that's what it will become. That should be obvious from the back and forth we've already seen.
I'm headed into town, but I'll make a note to move everything when I'm back... (Done).

I suppose it's unsurprising given consolidation in just about every part of the global economy, but these mega-sports deals have had their problems. In the soccer world, Inter Milan is in serious trouble, and Barcelona way over-spent prior to COVID-19 and they're in a world of hurt. The Red Sox are hitching part of their star to an outfit that has huge ambitions. The talk has been of purchasing teams in any number of sports leagues and they've started in. Given how well FSG has done with Liverpool, that may have been a draw for Redball. There are pitfalls in such a strategy (like planning for global pandemics!). There's a bit of brain-power in both organizations and that should help.

There's a bit of brain-power in both organizations and that should help. Given that I like the Red Sox very much, and have absolutely zero interest in any other team this... apparently global corporation?... might want to purchase, should I be concerned about a potential dilution of attention and funds? Like, could the Red Sox in theory miss out on a free agent signing because FSG neded the money for some European soccer club? Not sure I want the team to be just one subsidiary in some Amalgamated Widgets transnational...

I suppose it depends on how the firewalls are setup. The ambitions are large, no doubt about it. I feel the same way. Embedding ownership in such a vast enterprise could cause unforeseen problems. Hopefully, that won't be the case.
