Some grist for the pitch clock mill, among other things:
I've come around on the pitch clock. They've figured out that pitchers can throw harder if they take longer between pitches, and it's obvious where we're headed if they don't introduce a time limit: 30 seconds or more between every pitch.
Beyond that, it still seems obvious to me that the solution is changing the physical properties of the ball so that it misses fewer bats and gets hit into play more often. I don't know why that isn't part of what's under discussion.

Stealing someone else's tweet, I look forward to the day years from now when I take my daughter or son to the game, point to the pitch clock, and regale them with tales of the olde days, when baseball games were 13 minutes and 17 seconds longer on average.

Not sure if this has been discussed and or where it currently stands but. I just read the transcript of the Ex president of Seattle whom was fired for his comments. One of the things he said was that their would be electronic balls and strike calls within the next few years.
I know the subject has come up but not in context to Mathers comments and the time frame. Myself I am in favor of it and think it is not a matter of if it will happen but when.
