I never got that. It was like they assumed they’d never make the world series. would they be wrong though? Lol I checked their stats just this morning. That's a good team and as Hatfield said Buxton looks to have figured out the hitting part, at least early in the season. Nothing's ever guaranteed, but they've got a strong roster. The one part I'm not well-informed on is their bullpen.

It's going to be colder with possible snow... How they have a brand new building and no roof has never made any sense. Easy.. The last well known feature of the dumpster.. er, domed stadium in Minnesota was that garbage bag hanging in RF because HR's were flying like mad initially out of the park and they had to do something to slow them down. A quirk of the design? Some kind of AC/cooling issue wasn't it they finally settled on as the (probable) cause. Anyway.. Outside of the thunderdome/tropicana.. whatever they are calling that abomination in ST Pete now, probably never a worse stadium the last 50y, or since the Expos left Jerry Park.

I grew up near Minneapolis and saw plenty of games there, but it is no fun sitting for 3+ hours in 40 degrees or below watching baseball.

It’s a shame since Devers and JD are really hot right now and we’re also pitching well. Might this whole series get postponed? That’d be a nightmare.

Lol I think the Twins were in the WS in 1987 and 1991 (without looking it up), and that was a long time ago.... I am a KC Chiefs fan from the 1960s, so 50 years between Super Bowl APPEARANCES! Unlike the Red Sox who had 86 years between WS titles. As Red Sox fans we are pretty spoiled with 4 WS WINS in 17 years. Lol

I never got that. It was like they assumed they’d never make the world series. As I remember April baseball in Minnesota was even colder than October. They used to have some really decent pitchers in the day who pitched outside before the dome (way before) who were 'touchy/feely" guys, known for off speed stuff and not big FB's, like Mudcat grant, Jim perry, Jim Kaat. Even Tiant pitched well there in the 60's for several seasons. Am probably missing someone, but those guys came to me right away. Is cold weather that big of a deal to all pitchers?

Well I for one am glad they had the cojones to not put a roof in. It's kind of weird, but I just enjoy watching baseball less, even on TV, when it's played indoors. (If every stadium was like Tampa's I would simply have given up on the sport long ago.)
Also, can't say I've even met a Minnesotan who doesn't like to brag about how high their tolerance for the cold is, so I'm sure they get a kick out of sitting there smug and shivering for their 30 degree playoff games.

The games should obviously be moved to Boston or a neutral site. The idea that everything is going to be magically different tomorrow is beyond absurd.

Almost no chance we get games in tomorrow
Very interesting in seeing this series. The Twins are legitimately good and I’d love to see the Sox at least split with them. Would make me feel great about the year (even though that’s irrational as it’s mid April baseball and outlooks can change month to month lol)

It's a shame what the police are doing in MN. No excuses. Hopefully, we can play baseball tomorrow.

Things appear to be deteriorating quickly tonight in Brooklyn Center. I wouldn't expect a game tomorrow. They should put both teams on planes to Boston or find a minor league stadium outisde the Minneapolis area to host the rest of the series.
I also don't understand why it took so long to postpone today's game. They inconvenienced the fans who were in the stands. I knew when I got up this morning and saw news of the shooting that today's game was in jeopardy.

Even if they play Wed and Thur, they will need to make up at least 2 games if not all 4! The silver lining is that maybe Sale is back, the RS have figured out their optimal lineup, and some of the young guys like Duran or Seabold are up by the time the games are rescheduled.

Hilarious thought process:
Riots that happen mostly at night....
Postpones day game to ensure safety from riots....
“Let’s schedule two games tomorrow, we can play the second one at night”
What’s the thought process? There will magically be no riots tomorrow? Tomorrow night will be better than today’s afternoon?
Cmonnnnnn
It really should have been a binary decision. You either play the day games as scheduled, or if you have to cancel the day games (which may be reasonable to do, not my point) you fly back to Boston 6 hours ago. Not hard.
Edit: I’ll take back the binary decision point. I’d be fine if they decided to play in St. Paul. But sounds like something that should have been decided today (Monday).

No good answer here . I agree with canceling game 1 out of respect for the situation. That said politics and sports should not mix. It’s time to play the games. Either no fans and play ball In MSP or move the series to a different location.

there are plenty of things to criticize MLB for, not their response to this. This is not a situation where there is a best practices template, there are pros and cons to playing or not, moving or not.....etc...etc. Don't let your confirmation bias' confuse that, fellas.
They are trying to do the best they can.

The schedule allows for a swap of venues very nicely, especially for us. Sox are coming home after this series anyway. In August, they host the Twins for 3 games immediately before going on the road to Cleveland. That could become a road-trip-starting four game series in Minn (with a 9 inning doubleheader). Clubs can fly to Boston today and play in Fenway tomorrow and Thursday. The third home game would would be on August 23, a home off day for the Sox and a travel day (from NY to Boston) for the Twins.
Twins would have to fly from Boston to Anaheim after Thursday's game. In August they'd play the Yankees in NY on the 22nd, the Sox in Boston the next day, then both clubs would fly to Minn for the makeup of the 4 games there. That's just starting a homestand early for them.
This is easy. Alternatives are poor.
(You could start the Minn series on the 23rd and put the doubleheader in Fenway tomorrow, but that would likely be 7 innings, and that really sucks. It also gives neither team time to set their rotations.)

They are trying to do the best they can. The epitome of the double edged sword, their are no easy answers to this nor the growing divide in our country. Sad all the way around. I wish we could just play the games but I also wish even more that we could just get along and be united. Like a great clubhouse it leads to good things.

This isn't just a logistical issue. More to the point, the Twins players live in that area and are directly influenced by the situation. Their homes, families, workplace, i mean, it is their hometown. MLB needs to make a decision, in consultation with the players, that they feel is the best response. That may take a few days. Yours may the best alternative, but i would not characterize any of this as easy or any alternative as poor.

According to his instagram, Eduard Bazardo is on his way to Minneapolis...could be an extra pitcher for a potential doubleheader.
