THIS IS NOT A DRILL: FanGraphs' Eric Longenhagen checks under the hood of MiLB.com and Savant and finds...minor league Statcast data. Tinker away, my friends: streamable.com/8h8to4

Does it work for other leagues? Looks like just FSL based on the video.

Looks just to be the FSL sites, and even that data is wonky right now, but worth keeping an eye on for those who might be interested.

1. That's ridiculous. So apparently he's healthy, knock on wood. 2. The Chattanooga Lookouts will always have the best classic cap in minor league baseball, I am so happy they didn't get contracted as was rumored. 3. If I ran the Chattanooga Lookouts twitter account I would overuse the heck out of the eyes-wide-open emoji, it is the perfect union of team and emoji.

Does it work for other leagues? Looks like just FSL based on the video. None of the Red Sox system games captured that data the past two nights. They are capturing the "hardness", "trajectory" (GB/FB/LD) and location variables but that's about it for batted ball data. Plus nothing for pitch data. Here's an example of what we can get: "hitData":{"trajectory":"ground_ball","hardness":"medium","location":"3","coordinates":{"coordX":148.34,"coordY":169.6}} "pitchData":{"strikeZoneTop":3.371,"strikeZoneBottom":1.535,"coordinates":{"x":89.48,"y":138.38},"breaks":{}} ADD: for context this is what the MLB games provide: "hitData":{"launchSpeed":102.9,"launchAngle":-40.0,"totalDistance":4.0,"trajectory":"ground_ball","hardness":"hard","location":"5","coordinates":{"coordX":89.49,"coordY":159.91}} "pitchData":{"startSpeed":93.1,"endSpeed":85.2,"strikeZoneTop":3.41,"strikeZoneBottom":1.56,"coordinates":{"aY":29.8,"aZ":-18.31,"pfxX":-10.33,"pfxZ":7.48,"pX":-0.79,"pZ":1.79,"vX0":6.34,"vY0":-135.34,"vZ0":-6.81,"x":147.13,"y":190.46,"x0":-1.82,"y0":50.0,"z0":5.62,"aX":-19.16},"breaks":{"breakAngle":4.8,"spinRate":2548,"spinDirection":213},"zone":13,"plateTime":0.4,"extension":6.9}

Ha, seems MLB plugged that leak quickly.

One way to prevent HR's in that league - strike 'em all out

That must have been an action packed night at the ol’ ballpark. “Son, this may be hard to believe, but there was a time fellers didn’t just wave them woodie-ma-bobs.... they’d sometimes interfere with that game’a catch between that throwin’ hoss and the catchin’ dude.”

I wonder if we see a small spike in minor league injuries early on given the lack of true game experience most of these prospects have had over the last year or so.

That's pretty awesome, hopefully other teams follow suit. Smart move to try and get some good publicity for a change.

It's also a way to attract MLFAs and UDFAs.

Don't have access to the article, but 75% more stolen bases sounds... awesome?

Key changes are limiting pitcher to 2 pickoffs and making pitchers step off rubber before throwing to base (primarily affects Lefties) Apparently the Atlantic League had it in the 2nd half of the season a few years ago. Some highlights: Also, get a subscription to The Athletic! It's great, and only $1 right now (as EVERY writer I follow on twitter wants to tell me).

I agree that extremely high SB totals sounds like a better flavor of baseball to me. I'd also kinda like it if catchers were selected more for their ability to control the running game.
Is it 2 pickoff attempts per pitch, or per at bat?
