Lowell? I'd much rather have combined AA and AAA, rather than the front of the funnel. I'm not sure how that makes a difference. You're going to have four full-season affiliates and the complex. Ask a scout - the level of play across the minors is down, indicating that the level of play kind of dropped to fill the gaps.

BB in his first plate appearance. Beast. Promote him imo.

Transactions show that the Red Sox acquired Delino DeShields Jr. from the Rangers yesterday. He's been assigned to Worcester. There's our dedicated PR if they want to make room for him on the 40.

Yup, but might depend what Duran's role is at that point. Does anyone recall if the "on the roster by 9/1 or replacing someone on the 60-day IL" rule still exists for playoff eligibility?

It's kind of funny how hyped everyone is for Mayer's debut but then the Orioles have two FCL squads and their starter can't find the zone with a map. Take the walks when they're there and he'll have an opportunity to take the bat off his shoulders later I guess.

Cowards! Throw Marcelo a strike, we dare you!

Part of me wonders whether the Fenway South account is run by someone who doesn't know the FCL boxes don't actually track pitches given that it's mostly a marketing and events account. Presence of live photos seems to indicate that's not the case but I'd put a 25% chance on that being the case.

Cowards! Throw Marcelo a strike, we dare you! The pitcher couldn't throw strikes to anyone. He's gone. Maybe the next guy will throw some strikes. Edit: maybe not. He walks again.

Mayer clearly has mastered the strike zone hes ready get him up here! He's already displayed more patience at the plate than any of the current Red Sox hitters have.

Wait… he got a strike and didn’t hit it? Bust.

Do they have a shift on against him? Is there already a book on him that he’s a dead pull hitter? It might not matter if he keeps walking.

In hs first plate appearance, he drew a walk with a runner on 3rd and 1 out. Man this kid is giving me some serious JD Drew vibes 🤣

There's also the fact that one of JD's rare appearances in Fenway was on the day the team presented Marcelo.
