Wow, all three teams opening against the Yankee affiliates? That has to be on purpose, right?

I'm a little surprised to see that Drake Britton is the Opening Day starter after his DUI. Maybe the Red Sox think drinking and driving is no big deal. Thank God he didn't do anything truly reckless, like smoking a little pot and then eating a hot pocket.

I've waited months for Steven Wright, Drake Britton & Justin Haley to open the season? I protest!! I thought we had a deep farm system.

Must admit I feel the same way about these 3 pitching opening day. As for Britton, probably trying to show faith and getting him back on track. Wright? I guess that is somewhat understandable. But, I'm shocked that Haley is starting over Brian Johnson or Pat Light on day 1. Overall, it means little. Every year........this may be the most exciting day of the season for me.

Obviously the Sox don't want the Yankees farmhands to see their best pitchers yet...

A couple of bombs by Bogaerts would be fun.

Would be nice if the games in Scranton and Portland were afternoon games. High in Portland of 50 and Sunny. 46 at 6p, 43 at 7p and 41p at 8p. Not awful. But, afternoon would be better. Scranton temp will be 48 at 7p, 45 at 8p and 42 at 9p. Sunny and 52 this afternoon.

Anything less than 2-4 with a homerun from Bogaerts will have to be considered a failure.

Thank God he didn't do anything truly reckless, like smoking a little pot and then eating a hot pocket. Oh, relax. It's not like he was snorting fried chicken or anything. Also, it's ridiculous that Matt Barnes isn't starting tonight. He's probably the best pitcher in the minor leagues.

Great preview (although what else would you expect from Alex Speier?). Some interesting tidbits in there, too. Such as Mario Alcantara getting a bump in his velo this spring, sitting mid 90's and topping out at 97. Maybe he breaks out this year.

Thanks to all who maintain the daily link. I'm a long time lurker who really looks forward to the daily posts.
I'm also a little surprised by the choice of starters. I'm assuming it is not co ordinated and is a managers decision.

Unbelievable. I waited TWO HUNDRED AND TWELVE days for the Justin Haley show, and this is what we get?

Play by play guy said Britton was hitting 95 in the first. Mentioned that Portland has one of the most accurate radar guns in the EL. 1st inning went K-Single-K-E1 should have been out of the inning. HR to center. Wind aided. But, was a shot. And, another K.

Meneses with a three-run jack! 4-3 Portland.
EDIT: And Britton gives it right back. Three three-run homers in this game already.

AA Portland, the Org will look past the hitting, lack off, but the pitching, and who lays the eggs is an issue, and the holes in the gloves.
OK to like tools from prospects, and 97mph velocity, but fast and flat "throwers" are not pitchers. DUI and a headcase.........time will tell
By the way, the REPORTING on this site is nice, but please disclose nobody on Staff is a qualified baseball scout/evaluator
Thanks
