Pivetta's velocity is way down. First game averaged 93 on his fastball (95 last year), today is topping out at 93.

92 with no control and he's hanging half of his breaking pitches

Pivetta has looked like a scrub so far this year "He is who we thought he is!" Not giving his team a chance at all here.

We talked about ERod’s mental game the other day… I wonder about Pivetta. He has such great stuff and can put together some great games, but days like today happen too often. Just such underperformance, bad execution. Strange pitch selection, a lazy curve, constantly falling behind… these are not *talent* problems.

There was talk that the "dead arm" that a lot of guys work through in Spring Training might show up for some pitchers early in the season due to ST being so short. Hope that's all it is with Pivetta.

Rolling out a number 4-type starter as your 2 isn't a winning strategy over a 162-game season.

Every Twins starter has the name of like a teen detective from some forgotten 1950s paperback series. From the way back machine, "gum shoes".

Did Verdugo gain weight? He looks broader in his shoulders and chest. Maybe he’ll have an added burst of power?

Here's the Pivetta discussion in reverse. Verdugo looks like he's going to be MVP this year and might even make the Hall of Fame!
