I don't want to draft a dude named Cockburn, that sounds painful.

So Trevion Williams is going to play with Boston in the Summer League. Would love to see him get in better shape and make Theis expendable.

I would say the biggest surprise to me was passing on Justin Lewis, who's basically a more athletic Grant Williams, with a better wingspan. Didn't even look at him because all mocks had him going before our pick. Bulls already signed him to 2 way deal That is my one complaint with Brad, why not jump on some two way contract guys early? The good ones sign crazy fast, everyone on my list that wasn't drafted already signed. Foster with Sixers, Williams with Nets, Juzang with Jazz, Pippen Jr. with Lakers. Even my next tier of Williams, Harper Jr., Gillespie, Cockburn, Champagnie, Mohammad and Brown only has Trevion Williams unsigned currently. Would have given an A+ if after Davison, he did what the 76ers or Jazz did. Foster, Champagnie, Muhammad or Juzang and Cockburn. Maybe one of those ten or so guys you just named is going to have a career in the league. That’s the problem with getting precious about a late second round pick or undrafted two way guys.

That's the point for me, by bringing in a bunch each year you increase the odds you hit on one. Look at it over next ten years, the difference in ten guys versus 20 to 30. Go from one guy to maybe 2-3. Which could be big if you don't have any first round picks. Either that or mining the G-league heavy.

He must have had a rough childhood. Yeah, it must have been hard.

He must have had a rough childhood. Why? Being teased for his name? I mean I'm a long way from childhood, but I have to imagine incessant teasing still exists.

I know highlight videos are highlights, but Davison has got crazy, crazy athleticism. Also has some nice playmaking in him. You can tell the shot needs a lot of work though and his size might be a problem. Love the way he attacks the rim. If only we could combine him with Pritchard.

Chances are JD Davidson doesn't get past the G league.
The Celtics off-season will come around free agency. The draft was only interesting if the Celtics traded picks to get something good. They didn't.
Now it's time for free agency and trade season soon. The Celtics need to do something big because you aren't getting 2022 Al Horford again.

JD Davison is the most bullish I've been on a Celtics 2nd rounder in a long time.
Athletes like him don't grow on trees, he's insanely young, and has a competitive fire that you can't teach. Shooting you can learn as a skill, dribbles, passing, vision etc improve over time with work. Absolutely love the pick as a flier. I think of him like a Walmart version of Ja Morant basically, or Westbrookian with better defense if you want to look at it that way. Much better than typical "stash because we have no room" forced picks or players like Tremont Waters who simply are not NBA level athletes.
I also really like Trevion Williams as a flier playmaking big who should hopefully replace or at minimum compete with Theis.

For comparison.
Waters 30.5" no step vertical, 40.5" max vertical, 10.76 lane agility and 3.11 3/4 time
Rozier 33", 38", 10.88 and 3.15
Davison 30", 37", 11.38 and 3.23
Trevion Williams 27.5", 30", 12.75 and 3.46
Grant Williams 26", 31.5" 10.83 and 3.27

Feel like we’ll end up with Lonnie Walker as a bench scorer

Madar will stay overseas for another year.
Jordan Bone will join summer league team, he blew up the combine a few years back 9.97, 2.78, 36" and 42.5". Those are just crazy agility, speed and vertical numbers. Played with Grant Williams at Tennessee.

Bone was a good player at Tennessee, I remember being impressed by him in college. No idea how the pro career has gone tho

Players I'm interested in,
Jalen Smith, Ricky Rubio,Tauren Prince as free agents
Crowder and Saric from Sun's in trade, lots of noise they are shaking up team.
I'd love TJ Warren also, yet that seems highly unlikely.

I'd love TJ Warren also, yet that seems highly unlikely. Even if ones list is different, it's still probably similar in size. Highlights the point that while the team does have some tools to improve and, at least publicly, a willingness to use them (and go deeper into the tax) we shouldn't assume they WILL be used. Not many available players really move the needle for the Cs.

Not using MLE would be fairly silly. But i could easily see them letting the big TPE expire.

Playmaking, pace, and positive energy. JB Davison’s best skills were Boston’s greatest weaknesses.
Also, I’m gonna miss these Schmitz interviews. He was so good!

I feel like they’ve wanted Gallinari for a decade now
