Figured I'd start a thread for the Home Run Derby and All Star Game to not muck up other threads.
I'm going with Soto as my Derby pick. Not many huge names, let's go with the biggest.

During intros the players were getting roasted by the pyrotechnics. They jumped and grabbed their backs each time! Some bad planning by someone who didn't have to stand in front of the fire.

How did trucker hats come back AGAIN? I thought Ashton Kutcher killed those in the early 2000s after they inexplicably didn't die in the 80s.

…give it a rest…..getting very old… I’m sorry… look… it is Raffy Devers, who might get extended and be a Sox next year! I rephrased to focus on the happy part. I prefer to think about how great that team was four years ago than to bemoan what (never) might have been. There was no way to keep and extend Betts after the Sale and Eovaldi extensions. Benintendi sucked out loud for so long he essentially lost his starting job and they shut him down rather than try to bring him back at the end of 2020 -- trading him was a no-brainer. The other three guys are still on the team and still All-Stars four years later and two of those three could quite conceivably become lifetime Sox.
I just don't get the knee-jerk negativity.

I don’t think looking at that picture and feeling wistful is negative. And I will be pleased if X and Raffy stay, but I think the odds are about nil. I’m too young to remember, but I am guessing people were bummed when Lynn and Pudge left… but they kept Rice, at least.

You think looking at that photo and saying, unprompted, that it "nauseates" you is being wistful? Alright...

It was my post so I think I know the context, so I can say for darn sure I wasn't prompting you to chime in with the Eeyore act again.

I think gardening might be a little more your speed then, or something of that nature. It's sports, at the end of the day it's a business and no one owes you anything. It'll suck if Devers is traded or leaves, but get over it (so crazy that I have to tell an adult to get over something that hasn't even happened and might not happen at all). If you want to turn every thread in this board into your personal venting sessions, whatever, but don't get defensive when just about everyone pushes back because we're tired of the schtick.

Relax. I wasn’t even against trading Beni under the circumstances. But I will cultivate (like a gardener) a more emotionless form of fandom. For you.
