Yeah I thought it was interesting they said Mayer may need to move off SS while also claiming Yorke is a plus glove at 2B
Not sure I trust their evaluations of D lol

FWIW: Bleacher Report ( link) is slotting Teel in at 77 when accounting for this year's newly drafted.

I don't like doing this, but... These things are all just laughably, "have you even seen this guy play?" incorrect. The first two are literally just contradicted by numbers. The first is contradicted two sentences later: "...while he isn’t consistently getting the ball in the air yet..."

Thanks, had all of the same thoughts, was waiting for someone more knowledgeable to say it. Question (just because I didn't see it directly refuted) is there anything to Mayer's arm being weak, or is that equally...questionable?

This is my first ever post after being a longtime lurker on the forums, but I read this breakdown and I had to create a profile and respond. I cannot fathom how they can say Meyer is getting “exploited” so far in Portland when his K% is down from what it was in Greenville, and is currently sporting a .195 BABIP. Is his Chase/Whiff % in Portland really that bad? Despite the analysis of Yorke vs. Meyer defensively being enough to disregard most of what this guy is saying, I’m curious.

BP is pretty obviously not what it used to be but this is embarrassingly bad.

It's not a typo though - it's not like they clearly missed a word with which the sentence makes more sense. I think their process right now is such that completely contradictory statements make it into a scouting report. YMMV.

Not that Im the welcome wagon or anything, but welcome to the site. Intelligent first post, you'll love it here. This site has the best mix of insight, fun (game threads) and group of guys that you'll find anywhere.

Mayer's chase rate has maybe been a shade high, but it's the same at both levels (this and following as of 7/6). He's been better versus spin, worse against CH. His numbers are close enough I have no reason to think the Portland line is anything but luck driven at this point.

I read it the same way, but then thought they must mean just his Greenville time. If so, they could have worded thing MUCH better. There were tons of oddities in these reports

BA is dropping their complete rankings refresh tomorrow which will give us a better gauge of where everyone really stands

BA Rankings today with the refresh:
8. Marcelo Mayer Tools: Hit: 60 | Power: 55 | Run: 40 | Field: 60 | Arm: 60 Skinny: Mayer was one of the top prosects in the 2021 draft and has lived up to his billing so far as a professional. He’s got a well-rounded skill set that helped him crush the competition at High-A and earn his first promotion to Double-A as a 20-year-old.
35. Roman Anthony Tools: Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 50 | Field: 50 | Arm: 50 Skinny: One of the top breakout prospects in Low-A this season, Anthony has taken flight since seeing a promotion to High-A Greenville. His excellent bat-to-ball skills and discerning eye pair nicely with his developing plus power. Anthony has the ability to develop into a well-rounded offensive player who can handle center field defensively.
88. Miguel Bleis Tools: Hit: 40 | Power: 60 | Run: 60 | Field: 60 | Arm: 60 Skinny: Bleis had season-ending shoulder surgery to repair a separated shoulder in June. He showed some of the loudest tools in the low minors when he was on the field, but he still needs to make big strides as a hitter.

I love guys that pop and just take off. BP having Anthony 9th still seems crazy, but a little less crazy.

It's not inconceivable that we could have 2 top 10's by year end.

So BA drops a 60 hit and 60 field on Mayer, while Fangraphs gives him a 45 hit and 40 field. That seems like the difference between an all-star SS and a utility infielder lol. Prospect evaluation is fun huh?

I believe Elly De La Cruz is like 5 PAs from graduating from prospect status. So essentially all three guys should be bumped up one spot to 7, 34, and 87.
