Should be Perales tomorrow for Salem right? Unclear. Paez hasn't pitched yet. Possible they go six-man rotation.

David Hamilton homered again Statcast missed it for some reason but it was a bomb` Am I the only one all over the Hamilton bandwagon? AAA isn’t always necessary we need a SS he’s a SS. Let’s just try it. Why not!?

David Hamilton homered again Statcast missed it for some reason but it was a bomb` Am I the only one all over the Hamilton bandwagon? AAA isn’t always necessary we need a SS he’s a SS. Let’s just try it. Why not!? You act like he has a long track record of mashing and is a slam dunk solution. He was thoroughly mediocre as he struggled to hit .250 and projects as a utility guy and is seen more as a 2b than a SS. That is what he has been most of his professional career That said, the Red Sox SS situation is bordering heavily on desperate, he did make some changes to his approach at the plate toward the end of the season and played well in spring and thus far early in the season. He has a ton of speed that this lineup could use although I don't know if he'll be able to consistently steal 1b, which is another way of saying who cares how fast a guy is if he can't get on base? Ar this point, though, I wouldn't rule him out. Basically I wouldn't count on him, but I wouldn't count him out either, which is more than I could say about him going in to this year. So yeah, let's see if he can keep this up and force his way up soon. They're almost at the point they don't have much to lose. I mean when Bobby Dalbec is playing SS, that's pretty ugly. I don't know that Hamilton will be any better, but can he be any worse? (and oddly enough when that question gets thrown out the answer always seems to be yes.) I'd say Hamilton at this point should merit consideration. Maybe others who have actually watched him in Portland last year or Worcester so far might chime in with an opinion of whether he looks like a completely different hitter than he was most of last year, when he got off to a good start, slumped for a long time and then played well the final month of the season?

I`m pretty much always on the bandwagon of, getting a guy up and having a taste of the big leagues. Including Rafaela, Valdez, and Abreu sometime this year.

The worst I have ever seen Mayer tonight. Not the end of the world, but really would be a lot cooler if Mayer, Casas, Bello, Romero, etc. weren't hurt/struggling to start the year. Some big green shoots of optimism feels much needed. Hope they get right soon.

Red Sox really need to think about calling this kid up and having Kiké play CF while Duvall is out. I like it; he also brings speed to the roster. What’s the offsetting roster move, though? Su Chang? Could clear and change places with David.

What about Hamilton’s so-far sub-par defense at SS and 2b? This site says: “ Poor footwork and range and does not look comfortable at shortstop. Has a tendency to rush plays and has trouble fielding the ball on the run. At second base, is a bit robotic and only shows average hands. Footwork is sloppy there as well and it is unclear if he can stick there long-term.” Does anybody think he is better than that? The dropoff from Chang would be pretty big.

Can't argue with a professional like Ian but when I saw him throw last night on NESN it looked like he had a hose. Looked noticeably strong this spring as well.
What gives?

Chang doesn't have a hit for the season so there is no such world that its a dropoff. Also Chang looked HORRIBLE at 2nd base.

You didn't get that? Lost of people say Chang is a solid major league defender. Nobody says that about Hamilton.
