What is going on with Song? Wasn't he placed on the 15 day IL on April 1 ? He's not on the Phillies roster so where is he? If he's not on the 15 or 60 day IL doesn't he have to be on the Phillies MLB roster? www.mlb.com/phillies/roster/40-manSong IL-15 Yeah but he was placed on the 15 day on April 1.

The 15-day IL just means that a player has to spend a minimum of 15 days on it, but there's no maximum.

It is weird that he is not on the 60 day IL. He could start his 30 day minor league rehab stint today and that would end after he'd be eligible to return from the 60. Maybe getting him off the 40 man roster would invite scrutiny.
I kinda think DD is just doing the kid a solid by giving him a major league pay check for a bit

Dombrowski has had a remarkably bad run as the Phillies GM. His free agent signings to date:
2022 Castellanos (5/100): -0.1 WAR in 692 PAs Schwarber (4/79): 2.5 WAR in 805 PAs Knebel (1/10): 0.0 WAR in 44 IP Familia (1/6): -0.2 WAR in 34 IP Hand (1/6): 0.3 WAR in 45 IP
2023 Turner (11/300): 0.4 WAR in 143 PAs Walker (4/72): -0.1 WAR in 29 IP Strahm (2/15): 0.9 WAR in 27 IP Kimbrel (1/10): -0.2 WAR in 12 IP Harrison (1/2): -0.3 WAR in 46 PAs
Kudos on the Strahm signing. Other than that no one has been worth their contract, and only Schwarber is close. Turner will probably turn it around, but on a contract like that you reeeally want to be getting surplus value at the front end, and that's not happening so far.

Early still but the Brandon Marsh trade is looking good so far. Syndergaard and Robertson trades TBD on the returns but I think in season got the results they wanted from that.

Yeah, I meant to specify just in terms of the free agent signings. The trades look better. Though I doubt Marsh keeps up his MVP-caliber pace - he's got a cool 100-point wOBA-xwOBA gap.
On balance it's fair to say he's done a subpar, rather than terrible, job.

There's really no reason to anyway until you need the spot, but it's in the rules that you actually can't use the 60-day until you're replacing the player.

The 15-day IL just means that a player has to spend a minimum of 15 days on it, but there's no maximum. Okay so the plan is clear. Song will remain on the 15 day indefinitely while he "throws bullpens" in Clearwater and be placed on the MLB roster around July 1st when there are 90 days remaining in the season. I take it there is no MLB enforcement related to the list at all as basically an athlete in most sports is more or less always injured. Heck most of us are always injured. I woke up with some tightness in my back, have a small cut on my thumb and some knee soreness after riding up a steep hill yesterday on my bicycle.

Crawford to the IL, the return of Kaleb Ort. I assume when Paxton is up either Ort or Bello goes back down. Unless they do a surprise Paxton to the bullpen and then maybe there's a chance Bernardino is optioned.

Casas needs to get hot quick because he's not surviving Duvall's return unless there's another injury If Casas goes down for Duvall who plays 1st when Turner needs a breather? I think Duval would replace either Refsnyder or Tapia. I believe Dalbec would be the candidate to replace Casas and he isn't hitting great right now either. I think you have to give Casas a fairly long lease as long as he is playing good defense and the team is winning. Tapia is the one to go, as he and Duran are redundant. Need the RH OF bat off the bench by default. Casas will continue getting an opportunity until Duvall is back. If he’s still struggling at that point you can demote him and plug JT @ 1B. EDIT: wouldn’t be surprised if Arroyo will be the backup 1B if that’s the case.

I paid the $1 for 6 months specifically to read Alex Speier during baseball season -- if only I had known I'd be getting it here for free.

DD doing the DD thing without Moncada and Kopech to get a Sale or the $ to get a David Price….. He will not have the same results as 2018, but probably a yes on 2019.

Does Littell have an opt out, or upward mobility clause? Seems like an odd depth guy for a contending team to trade. This year’s Matt Carpenter?

Hoping to see the good Sale once again. That would make it 3 out of 4.

Did Peter Abraham just suggest one option was to release Paxton? Insanity. They will find a spot for him, you can’t have too much sp.
