Casas, Duran and Bello leading the team to victory and all looking like they might be good players is pretty much the best outcome you can ask for in Red Sox games this year. Winckowski gets an honorable mention. When was the last time we felt so good about the cost controlled talent on the Sox?

That was a great win in so many ways. The kids led the way. Bello was strong for 6 innings. Duran keeps hitting and flying on the basepaths. And Casas launched one to give them breathing room.
Winckowski and Martin were strong in relief and congrats Kenley Jansen on getting his 400th save. If he can get 100 more, then I'd think he'd be a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame. It was cool/ironic that his DP combo was Kiké Hernandez and Justin Turner, both playing different positions than what he was used to seeing in LA.
Bello was able to get the win thanks to the clutch pinch hit double by Tapia. I wonder what the pinch hitting batting average is under Alex Cora's tenure. I don't have the numbers but my impression is that Cora knows what button to push when it comes to pinch-hitting. He always seems to pick a guy who comes through. It's funny it wasn't Devers but rather Tapia. Tapia is not somebody you want playing every day but between his defense, ability to hit for a decent average, and blazing speed, he's a useful guy to have coming off the bench. I personally don't find him redundant with Duran on the roster. Duran is an everyday regular at this point. Tapia is a guy who can PH for a righty batter late in the game or pinch run or play defense. He's a good pickup and in my opinion worthy of roster spot.

Casas has 10 hits during his 20-game on-base streak. A .200ish BABIP. It's pretty amazing. I hate to say it and I hope to eat my hat on this one, but Casas looks like a big stiff to me. Can’t hit. Can’t field. Can’t move. Can only draw walks from what I’ve seen so far. How do those words taste….munch, munch, munch.. Your penance…repeat after me…. “I love Chiam Bloom” 25 times.

I was on solo kid duty tonight, so I only got to watch the Braves' half of the 5th inning. Bello's three-pitch strikeout of, I believe, Harris was just downright spectacular. Glad to see the rest of the night went well. Coming out of this series with a split definitely gives a "Harvard Beats Yale 29-29" vibe.

Also, learning to win without much from Devers, Yoshida is a good sign too Against that team too, it’s no joke. Very good signs. Clean baseball played once again by them tonight. Complete opposite of last year.

I know I’ve said this repeatedly but I really want Wong back there every game managing our pitching staff. It sure seems to me that he calls a good game and handles the running game much better than Reese (Who’s still a great backup/compliment)
Our lineup is good enough that we can live with Wong learning to hit major league pitching and his speed is an asset too. We’ve seen what he can do in small spurts

Yuchangclan is the MVP of the game thread tonight with one of the most well timed, poetic RJ's in years. It was incredible situational awareness, we owe Yuchang a debt of gratitude. It takes a lot of skill, balls and confidence to stick your neck out for the team like that. Think of how wrong it all could have gone.

The second I saw that thing touch down and Rosario wasn’t at 10/10 levels of urgency I knew it was a double
His acceleration off the first base bag is insane

Casas might actually come around and i pray that he does but he was lost for the first month. Luckily for him were riding or dying with him at 1st. Casas in his last 6 games (23 PA)
.333 / .435 / .667. The wOBA of .453 ranks 26th out of 236 guys with 20+ PA.
But he's actually had crap luck on balls in play.
His expected stats:
.330 .470 / .815. The .573 xwOBA ranks 2nd.
But he's actually heated up over this time span.
In his last 4 games he's hit .250 / .462 / 1.000 (13 PA). The .528 wOBA ranks 19th among 309 guys with 10+ PA.
And his luck on balls in play has remained rough.
His expected line: .319 / .572 / 1.044. His xwOBA of .696 is not just the best in MLB, he's .087 ahead of the runner-up.
In the last 6 games he's been far and away the best hitter on the team. Turner has been the runner-up, and Casas has an .032 edge in wOBA and a .156 in xwOBA.
I'm going to cut you some slack and assume you were asleep for 6 days and posted the above immediately upon awakening.

The division is insane. NY would be first or second in all the others.

Most people felt he was lost in CF. Many people felt he wasn't going to hit. What if his base stealing instincts suddenly kick in?

Complete opposite of last year. CDJ, and we can dream one day Mayer is at SS. He is the real deal. He is a winner. I hope for more but I would bet the house on that kid.

Also, learning to win without much from Devers, Yoshida is a good sign too Devers actually started hitting like himself the day after Casas did, on May (the) Fourth.
.381 / .435 / .619 = .453 wOBA (23 PA) .361 / .417 / .648 = .454 expected
He was great in the last Jays game and the first 2 vs. the Phillies. Almost nobody hit on Sunday. In this series he was a bit above the team average in wxOBA (.303 vs. .292), best among the guys who didn't hit well, but he had some bad luck (in game 1) while Kiké and Valdez had good. All the other guys who started just one game (Ref and the catchers) did nothing. Last we saw of him he smoked one off of Iglesias (99.1, .920 xBA) so we can hope that they just pitched him well in the two games where he didn't hit.
Re Yoshida, he and Casas were the only two guys who did anything in the Sunday Phillies game, so his complete awfulness in this series (both by results and eyeballs) came out of nowhere. It's definitely something to watch -- how long he stays cold will tell us something about him.

Did it twice with my just-as-inaccurate stopwatch on my Samsung watch and got 7.04 and 7.03. Do we have a 20-80 scale for home to second? 34th on the Baseball Savant sprint speed leaderboard at 28.9 ft/sec. 4.17 home to first 10th in baseball.
