Dalbec with another HR. Now hitting .298. With Rafaela I care more about walks than hits and with Dalbec I care more about Ks than homers. He had two Ks to go with the homer which amounts to a bad night for him in my book.

He had three of those buggers last night, including a two-run dinger! 😎 I see him in the OF and Mayer at SS in 2025.

It's wise to give Rafaela time to see if he can improve his approach. On the other hand at some point if he isn't making strides it might end up the Sox decide to just turn him loose and see what he can do. Hopefully it won't come to that and he will learn better plate discipline but there have been very successful free swingers in MLB history.

I'm drooling at the thought of a Casas, Yorke, Mayer, rafi infield with rafaela in cf in 2025. Is it all that likely all those guys pan out by then or at all? Probably not but if somehow it did they'd have a ton of dough to spend. Toss that money at Juan Soto and boy that'd be some potential lineup.

Anyone catch the Rafaela steal of home? Always an exciting play.

Anyone catch the Rafaela steal of home? Always an exciting play. It wasn’t very exciting unfortunately. Double steal with Mayer going from 1st to 2nd and Somerset didn’t even cover second base. They still made the throw even though there was no one covering for the tag. Shortstop caught the ball behind the bag and Rafaela went home on the throw.

I'd love to have all four of those guys on the 2025 team, too, but Story is signed through '27, so Yorke will be blocked at 2B. I see Yorke as a guy who will be able to get in 120 games by splitting time at DH, 1B, 2B and 3B. I'd like to see him getting some reps at 1B and 3B in the minors. He could be a highly useful player like DJ LeMahieu is that way.

Hopefully turns into a good problem to have.

Hopefully it's a good problem to have, in a perfect world Mayer and Yorke push the issue and Story shows he can play a good SS still and he's trade bait. World isn't perfect so who knows but still a guy can dream on a Casas York Mayer rafi IF anyway.

As I said in another thread, someone made a great post on here last year on data showing that even a subtle drop in a SS's ability to make hard throws to 1B results in a lot more baserunners over the course of a season. As I recall, the study or the story on the study used Story as an example. I found the results pretty astounding and concluded that Story was no longer a SS.
