Justin Turner is just a pro’s pro. Tremendous fun to watch hit. It was a great day when he signed. Here's Snitker after last night's Atlanta loss: If he was thinking that he should've just walked him. I know that puts the tying run on, but still that's not a mindset for success.

Last nights come from behind win was of the circle the date on the calendar variety. The game in which the Sox in my mind removed all doubt about this team being a post season contender. The team they beat and the manner in which they did it, speaks volumes.
Baseball is fun in 2023 !!!

Justin Turner is just a pro’s pro. Tremendous fun to watch hit. It was a great day when he signed. Here's Snitker after last night's Atlanta loss: Obviously Turner has more defensive value than JDM. But given that JDM has the current edge in wRC+, 131 to 127, a naive person might think that the offensive swap was a wash.
JDM has a Win Probability Added of 1.11.
Turner has 2.34.
Turner leads the Sox and ranks 20th in MLB. JDM trails Duran, Devers, and Duval and ranks 74th.
(As I pointed out last winter, this edge was to be expected based on their track records.)

Sale for 2, Pivetta for 5, Martin, Jansen. Shutouts follow. I like the idea of a Houck-Sale whipsaw. Both have the big slider but from opposite sides.

It's not only there where some eyebrow-raising things are happening. Mookie WAR: 4.5 Verdugo WAR:2.7 Vasquez WAR: 0.1 Connor Wong: 1.9 Mookie + Vasquez: 4.6 Verdugo + Wong: 4.6 It's almost as if the front offic...

Last year aside, I loved JD. He was exactly what we needed when he came to Boston, had an insane 2018, and for a while led by example in terms of his preparation. I’ve gotten pretty annoyed at people trying to throw shade at him. Last year sucked, yes, but let’s take a step back and appreciate one of the better hitters we’ve ever had the pleasure of watching daily.
That being said, Turner rocks. Great guy, great approach, and is really starting to use Fenway well. The Red Sox might not do everything right, but we have been incredibly spoiled at DH for 20 years now.

When he got here, so many guys talked about JD was helping them or seeing something in their swing. He was the kind of hitting technician we haven't seen in a long time. Last year he seems like a black hole on and off the field. I don't think he COULD have done what he's doing now here; I think he was in his head and bummed. Turner has added an energy and attitude you don't expect from a 38 y/o. And he can play the field a little. I feel great when he's up in the clutch, and so does the team. Great swap!

Yeah, JD was a liability anywhere but the batters box. At 38 JT has played 3b, 2b, and 1st admirably on top of being an anchor in the lineup, clubhouse, and community.

The narrative always gets spun on your way out of Boston. I don’t want to see JD get the Josh Beckett treatment. Beckett deserved a lot better too. Forget the end of their stints, these guys aren’t hall of famers, they’re good players that give their primes to Boston and the media dogs them on their way out when the Sox miss the playoffs. Can’t stand that

Random observations looking at team stats and standings.
Red Sox run differential is now +49. That's good for second in the AL east - and tied for 4th in all of the AL.
Red Sox are now tied for second in all of MLB in BA. Second in hits in all of MLB. First in doubles in all of baseball.
