Don't see no problem calling up Rafaela to the majors 5 games back from a wild card spot with how inconsistent this team is maybe he gives them a lift. If he's called up before roster expansion in September, doesn't it start his MLB clock. Can you save a year of control by waiting until September? Or has this changed?

Casas is one of the few bright spots of this team this season

If the players quit because the sox did not “trade for reinforcements” then they could never handle the boston market to begin with. because they do no that trading for reinforcements means players currently in the fenway locker room would be sent out as well yes? Yes, the idea is that the worst players on the roster would be jettisoned for better players. Somehow I think most of the players would be down with that. Right now our issue is defense and hitting Currently devers is the worst fielder on the team. as is Casas. Were we going to trade for a new 3B?

Casas proving he belongs this year is a real positive, too.

It’s almost as if Casas shouldn’t be pinch hit for, he’s only our most exciting hitter.

This weekend's outcome just makes you regret that they got hot right before the trade deadline. Should've sold at the deadline could've gotten a good haul for Turner, Paxton, Verdugo, and Duvall No sane GM was going to sell when we were 2 games back of the WC at the time. We had a better record than NYY. If we sold off and NY didnt. That would be malpractice

I feel nothing at this point; it's astonishing that we were 7-0 against this team, they're better in literally every facet Starts at 1:35. The 2023 Red Sox are our Fredo.

Defensive replacements coming off the bench? Guess not? Di you not remember the 04 team was getting killed defensively? Would you have told me they have Manny so tough luck?

I don’t think losing the former hurts at all, and it might get you something. Paxton could hurt, but the value could be at a peak. You gut it out until the three hurt guys get back, and you lose, what, 2-3 starts?

Agreed, there was room to sell some pieces to reinforce some other areas and still try to compete.

Nobody has quit.
Mediocre to bad rosters/players are inconsistent, that’s what separates them from the above average to great rosters/players. Any team/player can flash for a stretch - but big picture they are who they are…
Without question the flashes entice with what could be, but this Red Sox team is performing (big picture) just as expected by everyone but the most optimistic. And suffering the very issues that were foreseen ahead of the season…
It is simply who this roster is.
