Odorizzi and Meyer on the opposing docket on the same day. Mexican independence indeed.

Hoping for another solid outing from Montas. After struggling out of the gate, he was stellar last time out. He is one of the more fascinating arms in the system.

Can someone, anyone, explain to me how Blake Swihart keeps hitting triples?? Blake hit his 5th this year and he had 4 last season. He is either one lucky dude (guys falling over in the outfield) or one excellent base runner. I have a "crush" on Swihart and I would love to see him stay a catcher. We all have our favorite 5 or 6 prospects we rush to see how they performed each day, and he is one of mind.

I'm also big on Iggy and I see he's not playing today after being pulled yesterday. Sure would like to know what he did.

0-4's for Coyle and Cecchini. Have they both been hitless in the same game at all this year?

Odorizzi 7 no-hit innings. Brentz has had a rough few weeks against the good prospects in the IL.

Workman with 4R/2ER, 6H/8k/2BB. Gave up four doubles and a HR though, so he didn't do a great job pitching around his defense's mistakes I guess.
On the other hand Meyer gave up 5R/4ER on 5 hits/3BB, but only one XBH (2B)

You hit it deep enough where they ain't and have any speed, you've got a shot. Cecchini also has 4.

Who was pitching today also in Pawtucket? Knuckleballer Steven Wright. Who had 3 walks in 2 innings.
Not saying Lavarnway is at all good at blocking balls but catching him some may also be a factor. You might as well double or triple estimated PD when you are catching a knuckleball guy.

Both Passed Balls came with Wright in the game.

If you ignore the 2nd inning, Montas pitched 4 innings, 2 hits, no runs, and 5 k's. Unfortunately, in the 2nd he gave up 4runs on 2 2B's, a single and a HR.

I have to assume it's a combination of good baserunning, bad minor league defense, and plain 'ol dumb luck.
